“Great food, casual setting”
Reviewed January 12, 2010

Tomato Jam is only open for breakfast and lunch and it's well worth the trip for either. I've been several times and am very impressed by their freshness and use of local ingredients. It's one of those places where everyone knows your name if you're a regular.

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed October 12, 2009

We went for the biscuits and enjoyed it all. We had heard about their famous biscuits and they were great. I have never had a wheat biscuit that was so light and fluffy. The tomato jam was great too. I was also impressed with the fresh fruit bowl, very fresh fruit. My husband raved about the bacon all day! We will definitely return on our next visit to Asheville.

“The BEST reason to visit Asheville on a weekday!”
Reviewed July 8, 2009

We were so lucky to see the tiny sign for Tomato Jam Cafe' when driving from Biltmore Village into downtown, and ended up eating there twice in a 36-hour trip! We were the last of the lunch crowd, so Charlie (one of the owners) sat with us and explained the rich history of the 1960's lunch counter and the addition of the dine-in space 4 years ago. She answered our questions about the intriguing names in the menu (Uncle Funky = former culinary student w/red mohawk, now a chef in Raleigh) and talked openly about the process for creating the amazing tomato jam (not as sweet as a fruit jam, not as tangy as a ketchup).

Tomato Jam Cafe' supports local farmers (check the board behind the counter for the names of the farms who plant special crops JUST for T.J.C.) and several other local community initiatives. This is definitely food that tastes good and is good for you. We're already planning another trip!
