“The Cloisters suite is pure luxury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2010

My husband and I splurged on The Cloisters suite for a relaxing weekend getaway and it was totally worth it! Lynn and Ron have done such an amazing job creating a luxurious retreat that we hardly left the suite at all! They really seem to have thought of everything down to the smallest detail: the steam shower, the shiatsu tub, the luxurious linens on the bed, the beautiful hand-carved woodwork, breakfast delivered to your door each morning, not a speck of dust or cobweb in sight. What's not to love!? We left yesterday but I'm already dreaming of coming back!

We stayed in the Zelda Suite and it was like a home away from home, only without the distractions. We missed the first wine tasting, but enjoyed the second one with a great guitar & violin concert. Great Breakfast and perfect hosts. We are looking forward to going again.

Elegant and tasteful with perfect combination of privacy when wanted but public areas to meet other guests. Evening wine 'happy hour' great way to start visit.

We checked in for our 10th anniversary and stayed in Zelda's Retreat. The newly renovated bathroom had an amazing steam shower and whirlpool tub. The suite had plenty of room to relax and the accomodations were both beautiful and extremely comfortable. The furnishings throughout were exquisite and the service and attention to detail througout the inn was impeccable. We will definitely stay here again, hopefully in the Cloisters Suite which is absolutely to die for!!

We received a gift certificate from our staff for this beautiful inn and couldn't have been more pleased with our visit. Due to a late departure from home, we were going to arrive later than guests typically arrive. However, Lynn and Ron arranged for us to be well taken care of when we got there. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the well-restored home felt very comfortable yet elegant at the same time. Our cozy room was just right and made for a great night's sleep. The tea hanging in thermoses on the door in the morning was a terrific wake-up call. However, the breakfast in the lovely dining room topped it all.
Highly recommended for anyone staying in the downtown Asheville area. Great accommodations and incredibly friendly service makes this Inn a wonderful destination.

Make sure you read the cancellation policy on this one!! I was charged for two full nights even though severe blizzard conditions kept us from getting to Asheville for our first night's stay. I am disappointed after I read such wonderful reviews and this is not at all what I would expect from a place that boasts southern hospitality. After such travel hardships I did not feel that we received a great welcome and It definately kept me from fully enjoying my stay the second night after we finally did arrive. I would have hoped that in such extreme conditions other arrangements could have been made. Based on the service I received, I would not recommend this B&B to a friend.

seeme46, Owner / Innkeeper at 1900 Inn on Montford, responded to this review, February 23, 2010
Winter weather is frustrating to all of us - innkeeper and guests alike; and never more so than on a long-awaited romantic week end. He called the inn on Friday evening, by which time all our other guests had checked in. He explained that his traveling companion's flight had been delayed and that she was uncomfortable driving in winter weather. Our head housekeeper reminded him of our cancellation policy, as during on-line booking, the guest had confirmed acceptance of our cancellation policy and had declined Trip insurance.

None the less, she offered to reschedule their stay from Friday/Saturday to Saturday/Sunday night. He accepted and thanked her; expressing his relief that they would not have to drive in snow.

Because we were unable to rebook the room on such late notice, it was available for early check in on Saturday. During check-in, our head housekeeper confirmed their dinner reservations and sat down and discussed the many activities available in Asheville. She extended an invitation to join us for social hour and enjoy a sample of our mountain music. After social hour he thanked us for that "extra touch". In every respect he was courteous and appreciative.

Sunday morning we delivered coffee to their door with a heart shaped balloon and six beautiful red tulips. After breakfast, they left without an explanation. We called to confirm that they were not staying Sunday night as agreed. He explained that his traveling companion would be departing from Charlotte airport on Monday morning and that staying on Sunday night would be inconvenient.

We did everything we could anticipate to make their week end perfect! The rest we left to Cupid and "Old Man Winter."

We arrived Valentine's weekend during a snowstorm and were greeted by Ron and Lynn and a delightful cozy warm setting. The Inn is beautifully decorated and several fireplaces warmed us immediately upon our evening arrival. Our room the Thomas Wolfe, was charming and inviting. The gas fireplace provided warmth and ambiance to our room and the bathroom was complete with a large spa tub, definitely a plus on a cold weekend! We left the car in the parking lot until Saturday night (to avoid icy roads) but were within walking distance of downtown and enjoyed the charm of the Montford historic district and the beautiful old snow-covered homes. We enjoyed several of the local restaurants, including Nine Mile, a Jamaican restaurant a block from the Inn; Salsa, a casual, but delicious Mexican restaurant and Zambra's for a wonderful Valentine's dinner, tapas style. The Inn provided live music early Saturday evening, a local bluegrass duo, enjoyed in the parlor room in front of the fireplace, a very pleasant way to start the evening. On Sunday morning, Valentine's Day, resident Alley Cat, was busy delivering flowers to each of the guest rooms along with the usual morning coffee, to start our day before our delicious and filling breakfast. The Inn and its welcoming Innkeepers Lynn and Ron, provided us with a delightful and charming stay for our beautiful snow-filled weekend in Asheville.
