The Omni Grove Park Inn
Ranked #12 of 66 Hotels in Asheville
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 29, 2014

This is our second visit to Grove Park and the significant investment with new ownership by Omni is apparent in lobby and restaurant upgrades. The location is wonderful with great views. The lobby is massive with a large fireplace on either end that welcomes you to sit and absorb the wonderful atmosphere. The staff is knowledgable and anxious to please. A new restaurant and open air bar area has been added that is a great place for a meal or drink during the day/evening. The golf course is on the property and is challenging but the real test is surviving the fast greens - good luck. The Spa offers all the services you could hope for with an attentive staff. Only place we saw any area for improvement is the rooms need to be upgraded/updated and the baths enlarged. Hopefully, that will be next on the list of improvements. We highly recommend.

Room Tip: Suggest you ask for a room with a view of the golf course and mountains. We had a great view in room...

What a great place for a conference! Excellent conference rooms. Excellent restaurants with choices of location as well as food. Friendly staff. Only problems were that there are not 2 sinks, and one of our lights didn't work, as well as the guy next door who kept talking angrily until about midnight.

I booked a getaway to surprise my mom for her birthday and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience at The Grove Park Inn. The valet parking staff was so friendly and attentive as was the staff at the front desk. Everyone we encountered was helpful and knowledgeable. We had dinner at the Sunset Terrace and it was amazing. The filet was cooked to perfection and the flavor was outstanding. I won't even get started about the biscuits we had before dinner. Delicious doesn't seem like a fair description. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. We had breakfast at the Blue Ridge Buffet and sat by the window with a breathtaking view. The presentation is set up so beautifully and the choices are endless. All of the bread and pastries are homemade. And did I mention there are homemade doughnuts?? Outstanding. They also have a nice gluten free selection if that is your thing. Made to order omelettes and more of the mouth watering biscuits along with sausage gravy and it was almost too much to take in. Anyone going on a trip to Grove Park should experience the spa. If you don't want a treatment or didn't plan ahead and they are all booked, you can purchase a day pass that grants access to all of the water features, steam rooms, and saunas. Words can't express the experience of the spa. The atmosphere of tranquility and the feeling of relaxation are worth the trip alone. We had lunch seated outside at the Spa Cafe. The chicken salad wrap was delicious and came with a beautiful salad with their house made balsamic dressing. Overall, our experience was amazing and I am looking forward to going again.

What a lovely property and nice amenities. Only downside was staying in one of the modern wings rather than the original 1913 lodge, served by the elevator with three doors. But a gem of a property, and there is nothing else comparable in Asheville. lobby decor evokes the grand National Park lodges, and one can see why it has been popular for so long.

A perfect night away from the kids with respect to 95% of our stay. The food was incredible (VIEW 1913 is a must-eat restaurant) and breakfast was perfect. The spa was very relaxing and the treatments were on par with the price. The hotel, views and atmosphere are romantic and perfect for a trip to the Mountains. Our only complaint was the noise level from the terrace Saturday night. Perhaps the "original" section is both too close and without current noise insulation, but we had troubles falling asleep until the party died down well into the night an past reasonable hours. We'll go again, stay in the new section, and hope the hotel keeps the setting tranquil next time.

We stayed here this past weekend for my birthday. The hotel itself was amazing - breathtaking vistas, huge foyer with grand fireplaces and super courteous staff. We tried two of the restaurants- Edison - sat outside Saturday night it was a little chilly but the heaters were on and made a huge difference. We also had breakfast on Sunday at the blue ridge dining room- Superb buffet with anything you could have wanted. It was pricy at 25 p/p but well worth it.

Our room in the Simmons wing definitely left something to be desired, but we understood it was more for the views than anything. The bed was plush and comfortable, but the room was small with two chairs strangely about a foot away from the side of one of the queens (we had to get a two queen room because there were no kings left) The bathroom was tiny, as it was difficult for both of us to get ready. It also didn't have a fan (that I could find) and so it got super foggy. The shower curtain was clean, but for a few hundred a night, we were hoping for a more luxurious bath. My thoughts? remove the awkward chairs and make the bathroom a foot larger (and get rid of the shower curtains - a glass door would have made it much nicer.)

Also, the hallways leading to the rooms were kind of dark and needed something - I liked the photographs / posters, but put a chair rail in or something to make it look a little more upscale. We understand that the hotel is older, and we love the charm of the larger spaces, but for the price, we felt the room should have been a little more luxurious.

I can't say anything about the spa as we couldn't get a reservation for a massage, a month out. I would have loved to try it as I've been to spa's around the country and heard this is a top one.
