“A Beautiful hotel - some minor growing pains”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

A really great hotel with unbelievable stonework (a product of a time when labor was cheap and available). A truly memorable experience overall with the most expansive layout imaginable -we walked miles exploring the areas, tunnels and history of this hundred year old historic spa/hotel which Omni has acquired. I would have given the hotel excellent reviews except for the following minor issues. The room was not spotlessly clean as we would have expected - cobwebs in one corner of the ceiling - although the important considerations were quite acceptable (cleanliness of the bathroom, linens, carpet, etc). The beet salad at the spa had only traces of goat cheese (the protein component of the meal) - while tasty, was not up to expectations. Due to the age of the establishment, although updated, there was no vent in the bathroom. These are meant as constructive criticisms - in truth, we really loved the experience overall.

I have stayed at the Grove Park Inn for 20 years for both business in the Asheville area and for pleasure. I cannot express enough how well the Inn kept its soul through the recent renovation. Staying there is an experience unlike any other. Sunday brunch, music and crackling fires in the great hall, spa life... It's all good - my favorite place to leave the outside world behind.

My wife and I stayed at the Grove Park Inn in December.
Pros:
+ Great views of the valley below
+ Surprisingly good food onsite
+ Convenient to downtown Asheville
+ Impressive lobby / main hall area

Cons:
- Too crowded (families allowing their young children to run everywhere)
- Our room would benefited from a renovation

Thank you for staying with us last December and providing feedback about your time here. We are sorry you felt the resort was too crowded. We work very hard to balance our day guests' needs with our overnight guests' needs and make it a priority to ensure that each guests' experience is tailored to their wishes. We are grateful for your comments regarding our views, food, location and Great Hall and hope you can visit us again next time you are in the area.

Four High School friends met in Asheville for a reunion. We stayed here three nights (got a great room price on Booking.com) and did a spa day together. Services are expensive but you can use the spa facilities all day - lots of pools-indoors and out, saunas, whirlpools, etc. The rest of our visit we ate in Asheville (one of us lives there!)

Room Tip: One side looks up at the mountains and the other looks out across the valley to other mountains.

We stayed at the GPI in October of 2013 and had a very nice stay. The room was nice, although its proximity to the hotel's terrace and restaurant area required us to keep our curtains drawn in order to avoid becoming a part of the view from the terrace. This was a shame in that we could not enjoy a constant full view of the mountains. They need a correction for this issue. The dining area on the back terrace is nice and the food is excellent, if a little pricey. The morning breakfast buffet is outstanding and the view is even better. Finally, the main hall on the ground floor, with the two huge fireplaces is a cozy and comfortable place to sit and relax. A rocking chair in front of the fire is great, if you can get one before it is snatched up by one of the other guests waiting for the same spot.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not too close to the terraces so that you have better privacy and so that you...

We stayed at the Grove Park Inn for one night back in December. We wanted to see all of the Gingerbread houses and experience the Inn's accommodations. Instead of paying for valet parking, we just continued around to the parking garage, unloaded our bags and easily found our way to the front desk to check in.
Our room was in the beautiful stone main building, and though it wasn't luxurious, it was comfortable and gave us easy access to everything in the Inn. Before dinner, we sat on one of the porches overlooking the glorious mountains. And, even though it was a chilly night, there was a fire in the gas fireplace and heaters to keep us comfy.
The breakfast was my favorite meal - I had a very hard time choosing which of the many breakfast items to put on my plate. The buffet encompassed 3 rooms and had so many options but if you take it slow you can manage to enjoy most of it! And our table was by the window so the view was amazing.
The price for a room is high and you are paying for all meals and drinks so that would be my only reason for not giving it stars

Wonderful place filled with history not just in Asheville but at the hotel itself. We spent an entire night just roaming the halls reading about the history of the building. A must see location for a getaway to the mountains and Spa time. Very close to Biltmore Estate as well.
