Hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful from the moment we called in to make our reservation (which was five minutes before we pulled into the hotel). Room was comfortable and clean. Only complaint would be that there was only one channel for kids (which isn't usually the case for the other Double Tree hotels we have stayed at). Adjoining restaurant was convenient and kid friendly as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear Anne A,

Thank you for your feedback. We had the room you stayed in deeply inspected by our housekeeping staff, as well as Orkin Exterminator Services, and found no evidence of bed bugs. Our rooms are thoroughly deep cleaned on a regular basis, in addition to our daily cleanings, to ensure incidents such as this do not happen. We have written reports from Orkin that we can share with you if needed, so feel free to contact us further if you feel the need.

Sincerely,

We had bed bugs in my husband's bed. It was terrible for 2 nights. At first we thought it allergy but I did not go away with creams or allergy medicines. He was scratching for 2 nights. Then 3rd day we asked for the room to be changed which they did and it was a big difference.

We stayed at the Doubletree over New Year's 2013/14. This was our 3rd visit in about 5 years and we enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent: close to Biltmore Estate entrance, within walking distance of Biltmore Village shops and local restaurants. There is no reason to settle for the TGIFriday's connected to the hotel when at least 3 of the best restaurants in Asheville are in the village. The rooms in the Vanderbilt Tower are spacious and very quiet; the other rooms off the main lobby are less desirable. Our room was very neat and clean, nice bathroom and good linens. The bed was adequate, but not particularly comfortable. The TV was an outdated analog set and the channel selection is quite limited: Fox News but no PBS or MSNBC and no HD in our room (the set in the lobby was HD). A free wireless connection is available, but with I-phone it is not really needed. Breakfast is available in the lobby area, but it costs $12.50 per person and offers just a standard selection of food -- you can do just as well at Hardees down the street for much less. There is a nice indoor pool and jacuzzi and an exercise room off the back corridor and a patio for warm weather. Not many people were using these in January. Some small issues: the room was large, but there was only one comfortable chair to sit in to read and only one luggage rack, even though two people usually use a king-bed room. Finally, there is only one elevator that serves the 5 floors of the Tower, so there can be a wait to get up or down. We stayed for 3 days on a mini-vacation, so we had time to relax and enjoy the town, which is a delight. We will return, but hope to see some upgrades as well.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the Executive Tower for space and easy access from the rear parking area.

Not the best stay. Room was not completely clean...lint all over carpet...everything they provided that you would think was complimentary was not. Cocktail hour, fruit $1.50 banana, breakfast $11.00/person. $150.00 room for 2 queen beds...Hampton (Hilton also) or homewood suites probably a better deal....not impressed.

The hotel had an enormous lobby - the hotel is almost a maze with lots of hallways and turns. Check in was slow but I think I was a victim of bad timing. They had coupons for free coffee from a cart in the lobby and free breakfast (if selected as an option) for gold and above. Our room was very large, we had plenty of space to spread out and the bed slept well. The room seemed clean and I didn't notice any maintenance issues. The room had a shower (no tub) but it was very nice and had lovely tile. I also liked the bench that was placed in the shower with towels and toiletries on it - very classy look. They offered free water upon request (again for gold and above) and also provided cookies daily for the asking. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room which is unusual for a Doubletree. Breakfast was a buffet and it was OK. They had made to order omelets and eggs as well as grits, oatmeal, breakfast potatoes and bacon. The bread for toasting was huge slices that could fill you up quickly (not great for dunking in eggs). The oatmeal was thick and needed to be thinned in order to be edible. The coffee was very bitter so I gave up and went across the street to a Breugger's. The bacon was delicious so that saved breakfast. We booked the military rate which wasn't too pricey for what we got. I had a decent stay here and will return.

Clean hotel right next to Biltmore Estate. It made it easy for our visit to the estate. Hotel also has a TGIFs connected to it. Hotel and rooms a bit outdated, but were clean and beds were comfortable. Price was right for a clean hotel close to the Biltmore.

Had a suite at this hotel for one night. Room was excellent - spacious and quite comfortable. Hotel staffs were all very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again without hesitation. Access to adjoining restaurant was convenient.
