“Disappointed”
Reviewed September 20, 2007

This is an older simple hotel in a decent location. The staff was quite friendly. When inspecting our room we found 3 hairs (not ours) in the shower. Next, we spotted a piece of foil and a crumbling food object on the carpet near the bed. In the evening there is loud water hammer noise from neighboring rooms (showers & toilet flushing) disturbing our sleep. The furnishings were low end and the refrigerator was stuffed into a cheap pressed wood box. The door handles and hinges were old and sagging with paint spatter, stains and pits. Most of the chrome in the bathroom had never been polished just wiped off. The plastic formed shower stall and the sink needed upgrading. I have saved the best for last. The breakfast, oh my........ Square folded eggs & canned fruit in syrup - Yummy. Their eggs are purchased from a vendor and heated in their kitchen. I have NEVER seen eggs like this - EVER. Come on, Asheville is health food heaven and the Country Inn & Suites is serving this. I have read customers high ratings and I believe they must have been staying elsewhere and got the hotels mixed up OR have different standards. One night earlier I stayed at the Ayres Suites in Southern California for $99 having a marble entrance, marble & granite bathroom, classy furnishings and a FULL breakfast. The hotel was IMMACULATE throughout. Next time its the Homewood Suites for me.

  • Liked — Location was very nice and the staff were great
  • Disliked — The room was not well cleaned or upgraded (poorly repaired), noisy water pipes

This hotel was a little out from the center of Asheville, not that Asheville has a clearly defined center. Our room had a jacuzzi and after a long drive that was a welcome bonus. The rooms were large and clean. There was plenty of parking. The breakfast was barely adequate, but coming from Ireland perhaps I expected a bit too much in the way of breakfast. Asheville is very central and a great place to tour the beautiful Smoky mountains from.

We spent three nights at this hotel in mid-August. We brought our motorcycles on a trailer and rode Blue Ridge Parkway and mountain roads. The hotel was easy to find. Parking was great -- we took advantage of more private and shady spots in the back. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave us some great restaurant recommendations. The only complaint is that carpet was pretty worn and stained, which brought down the feel of cleanliness. Definitely needs replacing. Otherwise, everything was in good shape. Would definitely recommend this. Price was good. Location was close to downtown, which had lots of great restaurants.

We first stopped at a major chain across the road, but the desk staff was unfriendly and price quoted was very high. Decided not to stay there and to try Country Inn & Suites. So glad we did!!! Help was friendly, room was clean and well arranged. Also enjoyed a quality breakfast.

We stayed here for three nights and couldn't have been more pleased. The rooms were large and we loved having the bedroom separate from the living area. Fridge/microwave were handy, lots of channels on TV, super-comfy bed! The pool and hot tub were great--especially enjoyed the hour for adults only! Breakfast was better than most hotels offer. The staff was friendly, smooth check in/out, overall a wonderful experience. We'll look for Country Inn & Suites in the future!

  • Liked — Great rooms, nice pool, cookies, good breakfast.
  • Disliked — A bit hard to find at first, needs more parking.

Enjoyed the stay because of good size rooms, cookies, and breakfast. My family was impressed since they had not stayed at a Country Inn and Suites before.

However, when I returned home, I had extra charges on my credit card. I called the hotel and they said that it was because we had two extra people in the room. They did not verify with me the number of adults in the room (4) or my child. They claimed that I had told them that there were 2 adults and 1 child. Night clerk could not do anything for me. Calling customer support, they say that Priceline and similar services book for 2 adults only. That is clearly not what Priceline shows. Still expecting a call back from the manager on this issue.

I view this entire issue as deceptive charges considering that they were saying that I was dishonest with them and they lied about this issue. I was not given a receipt or told about the issue when I stayed there.

Hope that others with extra adults can avoid this entire issue because Country Inn wasn't upfront about the issue.

Just got back from a two night stay. The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very helpful giving us directions to and from Biltmore and to get on the interstate. We did not hear noises from anyone in the hall or other rooms and we were across from the elevator. Many choices of restaurants in the area. The pool and hot tub were very nice. The continental breakfast was okay. We would stay there again.
