I see one disappointed reviewer paid nearly $200 per night - I would be disappointed too. But at $59 + tax, we were pleasantly surprised. (We got that price at a website where they don't reveal the name of the hotel until after you pay). Though we were hoping for a location closer to downtown, it was just a short drive, and convenient to lots of other shopping and dining choices. The rooms are a little dated, but not bad (1990's?). Ours was roomy and clean on the fourth floor. The in-room air-conditioner was not overly loud - we slept fine. The small indoor pool and hot tub looked nice. Most surprising was the excellent breakfast... typical continental fare, but also had hot choices like egg burritos, bacon, sausage & biscuits, potatoes, and my favorite: hotel waffles. And they had all the cold choices I like: bagels, 4 different juices, milk, cereals, yogurt, you name it... it was the best free breakfast I've had in a long time.

We stayed 1 night while in Asheville. The hotel was really close to downtown Asheville. There were cookies and coffee available in the lobby. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Complimentary wi-fi in the room. The breakfast was nice, oatmeal, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, ham, bagels, english muffins, juice, etc.

There is nothing especially good about the Country Inn & Suites, but there was also nothing bad. Check in and out were easy, and they have cookies and fresh coffee for free in the lobby all the time. There's also complimentary wi-fi, newspaper and breakfast. The breakfast selection is limited, of average quality and ends a bit early (9:30 am), but any frequent traveler can appreciate the convenience and savings of a free breakfast in the hotel.

The rooms are nice and spacious. While not lavish, I found the furnishings perfectly nice and modern. There is a nice pool area, small fitness center and tiny patio enclosed on all sides by high walls that I couldn't imagine anyone other than a smoker wanting to use.

The property is located two exits from downtown Asheville, so it's reasonably convenient. It is not the nicest hotel in Asheville, but if you are staying here to explore Asheville, its restaurants and the Biltmore Estate rather than hang out at a hotel, this is a convenient, comfortable and economical option.

A room rate of nearly $200 for a one night stay here (after taxes) seemed a little high for a Country Inn but all the positive reviews convinced us it would be worth it. This must be a special place we thought. But then we got here and began to wonder if we were at the same place everyone else was talking about.

It did not begin well. We had booked a King Suite with reassurances from the hotel that this included two separate rooms (one bedroom and one living area). Despite prepaying and calling ahead to make sure such a suite was still available, we arrived to find that we had been reassigned to a King room with a whirlpool/hot tub. This meant no separate sleeping areas for our party. It also meant finding a whirlpool/hot tub that had residual hair on it and being on the ground floor in a hallway that everyone else used to access the gym and breakfast area. Okay, perhaps, if you like to be close to where all the action is.

We were also disappointed with features that could not be easily attributed to a one-time reservation mix-up. There was nothing unique about our room, the lobby, or the eating area that distinguished them from accommodations we have found at many other (much cheaper) Country Inns. It also did not occur to us, prior to our visit, that the term “close to downtown” does NOT mean the hotel is within walking distance of any of the downtown restaurants or shopping areas. Parking can be a special challenge in the downtown area and you won’t avoid the hassles by staying here. Too bad -- we liked many things about Asheville but this hotel is not high on our list of places to visit again.

This hotel was clean, well run, and had a good breakfast. The room was comfortable and well maintained. It was quiet even though the room was next to the elevator. .We would recommend this hotel for the price if you are in Asheville.

Stayed at this location because it was highly rated on TripAdvisor. The best attribute was the service. Front desk staff were very efficient and friendly on several occasions. The hotel had an indoor pool we didn't use, but it seemed large enough, although right off the breakfast area with big windows and not very private. The free breakfast was decent with a mix of hots and colds. The room was probably the biggest downside. It was fairly outdated with ceiling tiles in the bathroom, holes in the old bathroom wallpaper from multiple former fixtures, and some "classic" glass-top end tables. I guess the Country Inn chain is budget-oriented, but at $150 a night (Asheville is a pricey place to stay), you kinda expect a little more style for the buck. Our friends staying across the street at the Hampton Inn had a MUCH nicer room, I will say, but they probably paid a bit more too. Our room was quiet, which was nice, but the view to the rear of the property was just an embankment. Nothing special. For that matter, the view from the front of the hotel was just a parking lot with a lot of potholes and a busy four-lane highway. You could walk to IHOP and Waffle House from this hotel, if that floats your boat, but otherwise, everything must be driven to. Tunnel Road is a BUSY highway with no turning lanes, so it was a bit of a risky venture turning into and out of this hotel's parking lot on a steep hill. So all in all, it was just okay. I'm not sure why folks are raving about this hotel on TripAdvisor. Good service, just nothing special in terms of views, rooms, or location.

Room Tip: The two-room suites are nice, for a small upgrade fee. You get a couch and fridge in the tv room, an...

Country Inn & Suites is a great place to stay. Staff was very friendly, didn't mind if my granddaughter took more then her share of cookies. ha The room was very clean and breakfast was to die for. Coffee was pretty dang good too. Have saved this hotel for my monthly visits to Asheville to see my daughter. I know you are probably wanting to know why I just don't stay at my daughter's house. Well she doesn't have as good a breakfast, she doesn't make cookies when I want them and she doesn't have a hot tub/pool. No brainer. Love my kids but nice to have a break and go back to a quiet room by myself. ha
