“A Gracious Step Back In Time with All the Modern Amenities”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Wow! What an amazing and awesome destination. Of all of the B&Bs that we’ve patronized in our travels over the years, Reynolds Mansion now tops our list by leaps and bounds. This circa 1847 home, now part of the National Historic Register, has been meticulously restored and furnished by its innkeepers, Billy and Mike, to provide accommodations and experiences of genuine southern hospitality. From the minute we walked in the door, the charm of the residence was apparent with Billy’s very warm welcome, making us feel like old time friends that had found their way back home. The initial tour of the mansion quickly revealed that this place is packed with history in its structure, tasteful furnishings, and the knowledge that Billy holds of the previous residents and uses of the building. It immediately becomes very clear that this B&B is not just a business for Billy and Mike, but a true passion for these two innkeepers. Our room for our July 2013 stay is named All That Jazz and is one of three in the carriage house directly behind the mansion with a cozy porch overlooking a beautiful summer garden of flowers and fountains. There is even a nicely landscaped in ground pool to the side of the property. Our room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed and modern bath. The breakfasts, served in the Dining Room of the mansion, were nothing short of gourmet and provided not only delicious nourishment for the body, but for the mind as well with Billy joining us each morning at the table in the role of engaging host and delightful storyteller. And an awesome story teller he is, covering everything from the purchase and restoration of the property to the history of its inhabitants and tales of residing gentle and playful spirits. If you’re a B&B aficionado, you must put Reynolds’s Mansion on your list of places to stay. Be sure to take plenty of time during your visit to walk through the mansion’s hallways and first floor rooms and carefully take in all that is artfully displayed and maintained. We really did not want to check out of this warm, relaxing experience and can’t wait to find an opportunity to return. This B&B sets the bar and is indeed an amazing place. A very sincere thank you to Billy, Mike and staff for allowing us to be part of your dream. Oh, and P.S. to Billy – get working on that cookbook!

It was our first-ever trip to Asheville. We were all set to book a room in another B&B, but were lured to Reynolds by the reviews on this site.

As we came off the highway, we were so impressed with the majestic presence of the mansion up on Sen. Reynold's Mountain. The house is lovely -- historically appropriate, but with a fun, kitchy feel with a portrait of Barnabus and other blasts from our past.

Billy greeted us and instantly made us feel welcome. He provided us with great information and a list of top eateries. We would not stray from the list, and we were not disappointed!

We stayed in the Elephant Walk room in the Carriage House. Extremely clean and comfortable. We had a truly wonderful, romantic weekend. The town of Ashevile, the Biltmore Estates and all of the great things we saw and did. Perhaps most memorable is our stay at the Reynolds Mansion!

Thanks to Billy and the whole team for their gracious and generous hospitality!

My wife and I had a two-night weekend getaway in Asheville this past weekend. The choices of accommodations was a bit overwhelming, but I am thrilled that we chose The Reynolds Mansion. The mansion itself was beautiful. We loved how it has been perfectly restored, with immaculate, quiet rooms and beautiful grounds. I cannot rave enough about the people. Billy and his staff were exceptional... friendly, knowledgeable (about the history of the Mansion and Asheville as a whole), and very accommodating. We will not think twice about where to stay on future visits to the city. If you are looking for a place with great history, charm, and gracious hosts, look no further than The Reynolds Mansion.

Room Tip: Guestroom Glenda on the second floor next to the wrap-around porch was perfect.

Thanks to Billy for another wonderful stay last week! Every time I'm there is just a little better than the time before. Unparalleled food and hospitality. Very knowledgeable about places to go and things to see in and around Asheville. Looking forward to next time!

If you are going to Asheville, you must stay at the Reynolds Mansion! The service and experience were amazing. Billy and his staff put their hearts into what they do, and it really shows. It was the unexpected touches, like breakfast to go when we couldn't make the amazing daily breakfast, that really made our experience special. They take time out of their day to help you with anything you need, give you recommendations of places to see and eat, and to tell you stories, both historical and personal, about the mansion. We will never stay anywhere else when in the Asheville area!

Room Tip: We stayed in Blue Hydrangea in the carriage house. It was large, inviting, and we loved the Jacuzzi...

Staying at the Reynolds Mansion was an amazing experience...I cannot stop telling everyone about it! The house and grounds are beautiful, the staff are excellent and the breakfast is exceptional. Do not miss the 0900 breakfast every morning...if not for the fabulous food and coffee (thank you Billy for telling me your coffee secret - I make it at home now), but for the conversation and stories with Billy, the Innkeeper. I could have sat there talking with him for days. I quickly became obsessed with the history of the home and all of it's previous owners. Billy restored the home perfectly back to its original self and you feel as if you have been transported back in time. I have to admit that I was actually tearful when hugging Billy goodbye. We will be making this a regular getaway several times a year from now on!!!

We come to Asheville every year for a music event and always stay at Reynolds. We knew and loved the previous Innkeeper and so when she sold we were nervous about how it would change. No worries! Billy has done a lot of great restoration work and service is excellent. Rooms are very comfortable and grounds are lovely. Also, Billy has an amazing memory and remembers our preferences from year to year.
