The place was beautiful, location fantastic, and Jim and Linda were gracious as always. The breakfasts were to die for....elegant, plentiful and delicious. We were 2 couples traveling together and we stayed in the Margaret Grace room and the Marion Hall room which connect. We had a sitting area to share as well as our private areas. They provide you with everything you need as well as those things you don't but love. Chocolates around the entire house, and port wine to drink for an nightcap. They also have a visitors pantry open 24 hours for your convienience with sodas, water, coffee, snacks and fresh pastries each day to satisfy your every whim. And by the way...while staying in Asheville don't forget to go on the Segway tours with Wes, and the new navitat canapy adventures. AWESOME both of them, and we are all late 50's. Non impact, fun, and a new fresh way to see the area and nature.

I searched many bed & breakfasts on line but kept coming back to The Lion & the Rose. The house looked just like the photos. Breakfast was good, bed was very comfortable, and it was quiet at night. The location was good, however, it was not as close to downtown as thought. You could easily drive, but on hot days the walk would be difficult. Everything else was close.Biltmore very close, Grovepark Inn and restauraunts. The only small negative was there was no central air, which we were surprised at. There are window units in the bedrooms. The downstairs was very warm when we arrived at l:00 PM, so I don't think you would b e able to sit on the main floor in the afternoon. They do have a wonderful porch which we used several times. We started talking to another guest, and we ended up dining out with them. Very nice B&B.

Our stay at the Lion and Rose exceeded our expectations. The inn was lovely, our room was comfortable and immaculate. The innkeepers, Jim and Linda, were extremely gracious and caring. They made us feel completely at home and did a great job accomodating our diet (we're vegan). The food was excellent. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch and in the garden and liked the special touches such as coffee brought to our door in the morning (before breakfast). We highly recommend this inn and plan to stay there again whenever we visit Asheville.

We were first time guests at The Lion and The Rose, having found it on the internet. We knew the location on Montford Ave. since we have stayed in that district before. This B&B exceeded our expectations! It has beautiful grounds and gardens, and the main level common areas are large and well furnished. There are only five guest rooms, all but one on the second level, with the suite an the third level. We stayed in the Fannie Rice room and it was excellent. Our friends stayed in the Holger Nielson room next to us and they loved it as well. Our hosts, Jim and Linda, could not have been nicer or more helpful. The breakfasts were sumptious and tastefully done. With only 5 rooms, the table of ten was a lively conversation area. The location is very good, whether to the Biltmore Estate or to downtown. It is very easy to get around. The Montford neighborhood is a pleasant walking area, too. Just book it and enjoy!

One of the best breakfasts i've ever had. Apple and cranberry pancakes that were incredible. A parfait dish of fruit followed by pancakes and bacon.

We stayed in the Margaret Grace room for 1 night whilst passing through Asheville on honeymoon. My new wife was delighted by my choice.

The owners were so sweet and helpful and we got a great nights sleep.

If i am ever in Asheville again i will be checking to see if this place is available.

My husband and I took my parents and brother on a trip to North and South Carolina. My one wish for the trip was to visit Biltmore. I found The Lion & The Rose on the internet. The Inn is located on a quiet street with lots of other historic homes. The innkeepers Jim and Linda were born to run a B&B. They were so hospitable and have thought of every little thing to make your visit perfect. The rooms are so clean and well appointed that we felt like we were the very first guests. You could eat off the floors it was so clean. Jim whipped up excellent breakfasts both mornings we were there. They offer a butlers pantry stocked with bottled water, sodas, and snacks, utensils, plates and glasses. There is also a refrigerator available should you want to chill your own bottle of Chardonnay ;) or anything else. Coffee is delivered to your door each morning. They have a laptop and printer available for guests' use in the parlor. They maintain an armoir of brochures of things to do in the area. There is a cabinet in the hallway outside the rooms that contains anything you might have forgotten: toothpaste, razor, needle & thread, bandages, etc. Everything is tasteful and elegant without being stuffy.

My husband and I loved The Lion & The Rose in Asheville. Linda and Jim are wonderful hosts and the breakfasts were incredible. We stayed there for our 4th wedding anniversary and it made the event even more special. The Inn is a short walk from downtown and Jim gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations. My husband and I also loved Cedric - their fabulous terrier! We will definitely return to Asheville and The Lion & The Rose. I can't recommend the Inn enough!
