We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are all lovely and we relaxed on the cool porch overlooking the gorgeous gardens most late afternoons before walking into town for the evening of dining and music. Hosts recommendations were all spot on. The pantry for guests to make tea, get cold drinks is a really good facility. A lovely quiet neighborhood for a stay in Asheville.

Great place to stay close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Close to major highways. Very amiable, knowledgeable and accessible hosts. Walking distance (about a mile) from downtown, with an enjoyable restaurant in the neighborhood. Snack area available to guests, including coffee, drinks, snacks and HOME BAKED GOODIES. Port and sherry available for late night relaxation. Bedroom and bed very comfortable (if you enjoy firm and high mattress). Victorian décor a plus, "like window shopping in an antique store." Definitely not for children.

Perfect location - walk to Downtown or easily hop onto the highway, it's convenient to everywhere in Asheville.
Wonderful hosts - Jim and Linda are gracious, warm and eager to share their knowledge of Asheville.
Comfortable accommodations - the rooms are well-appointed, the public areas are comfortable, the porch invites you to linger, and the gardens are beautiful.
Yummy breakfasts - coffee or tea delivered to your room before breakfast set you up for delicious (and generous) breakfast dishes prepared by Jim.
Can't wait to return!!!

My husband and I stayed in the Holger Nielson room. This was our first time staying at a B&B and the lovely owners, grounds, and experience at the Lion and the Rose exceeded our expectations! The room was very clean and more spacious than expected from looking at the pictures on the website. Breakfast was wonderful- fresh fruit and creative and delicious dishes made by the owners. My favorite was a tie between the french toast and the buckwheat crepe! I really appreciated the creature comforts that were provided for us- from the comfy robes and towels in the rooms, early morning tray of tea left at our door, and the snack pantry with delicious treats available all day and night. Further, the owners were very knowledgeable about what to do and where to eat in Asheville. The location of the B&B is perfect- close to downtown but also nestled in a nice historic community, perfect for an early morning or evening walk. Would definitely recommend the Lion & the Rose for a relaxing weekend or week long retreat!

Beautiful house/ property in historic district for great price! Took a $6 cab ride to downtown, stayed until about midnight and had no problem getting a cab back. House was clean, loved the mattress and the food! Decor was gorgeous. Owners were gone but the assistants, (Heather & Austin) we're wonderful! Couldn't have picked a better place!
