My husband and I decided to take a 4 day get-away (without the kids) during the Christmas season. When booking our bed and breakfast stay we never realized how warm and kind, helpful and informative, humorous and caring Patti and Gary would be. They saw to our every comfort, made wonderful suggestions, and cooked incredible food. The house was beautiful. The bed so comfortable I wished I could take it back with me. The 3 course breakfast delicious! They prepared a picnic lunch that was enough to feed 4 people. This wonderful old home was well worth the money. The only difficult part of coming back would be to decide which themed bedroom I would want to stay in.

Tried for a number of years to get here for the magnificent Candlelight Tour at the Biltmore and this was it! Didn't want to stay in a "chain" and found the Cumberland perfect! We were joined by another couple, and the rooms were great! Breakfast was delicious and more than we are used to! The inn itself was welcoming and spotless!! ...even got window washing tips from Patti!
Kudos to Gary for his talent in the kitchen! ...recipes to share...mmmmm. Hope to return someday!

Beautiful house on a quiet street. Comfortable, convenient , and friendly, with memorable breakfasts. Gary and Patti are wonderful hosts and very helpful with planning activities - don't hesitate to take advantage of this service. Slept well in comfortable bed, enjoyed the weekend.

Nice people. Very nice and roomy bedrooms. Living room rather small and cramped but nicely furnished. Not a lot of room to spread out outside of you room comfortably. Especially compared to others that are priced even a little lower. Kind of expensive but may be about right for Asheville.

The big negative, for me, is that breakfast isn't served until 9 am - only one sitting. I usually wake at 6 am and it feels like half the day is gone before breakfast is complete. Not a good place to stay if you want an early start or need to get on the road.

Conveniently located to downtown - its a bit of a hike (probably 10 blocks or so) but a nice walk.

We so appreciate guest comments as it usually provides an excellent opportunity to help folks understand the workings of a bed and breakfast. Every bed and breakfast operating as a business posts great information on their website so that guests choosing a particular property can check out the policies of the inns they are selecting achieving the best fit possible. No computer access is not a problem because a call to the inn you are considering will render equally good information.

Bed and Breakfast cuisine is not fast food. In our particular inn, all the ingredients are as fresh as we can find them and usually purchased just far enough ahead to actually make the meal. No mixes are used, the food is not placed under warming lights, water trays or hot boxes in efforts to try and preserve the very best of it. It is served freshly hot from the oven as soon as it is completed & is as perfect as we can make it.
Our inn serves up 3 courses each morning. All of it freshly prepped and made.

Due to the completely organic nature of this cooking methodology and not in a commercial environment (where one might have access to 4-5 ovens), doing this several times a morning in a small inn is really not feasible. Further, much of the experience and joy of the breakfast meal is at least in equal measure the social aspect of each guest getting to talk to their fellow travelers and enjoy each others company. Hence the meal in the company of others.

We actually do offer an "early departure" option for guests needing to leave the inn early which we also provided for these guests. It is a muffin, fruit, granola bar, yogurt, nuts and to go coffee and juice.

This guest was leaving only a bit early.
We really wanted them to be able enjoy the "full breakfast." With this in mind, we prepped everything early and made only their serving so that they could enjoy the full experience. Most "bed and breakfast regulars" really enjoy this aspect of their stay and we didn't want them to miss it.
We did this while concurrently continuing both the breakfast preparation and service for the10 other guests in our house that morning-All in our best effort to see that these guests had a great experience.

Sometimes in traveling when a very early departure, long driving times ahead or urgent plans for the day necessitate a quick getaway with no time for a leisurely breakfast -An experience where all the food is left out and available for Many hours- commercially prepared & wrapped in plastic-showcased in trays with tongs may be just the convenience needed for that trip.

Our inn is a six room home. We have both a Sun Room as well as foyer and living room- all dedicated to guests being able to choose a smaller venue where there would be in the company of only 2 others. There is also foyer where there is a 2 chair set up as well. Travelers sometimes need to do a bit of work or check in with family before breakfast.. There is also both a front and back porch area & WIFI is available throughout the property. The living room houses a large couch and 2 chairs and an ottoman. A larger property with many more bedrooms would likely have a larger abundance of common area certainly. Most of our guests chose our property because it is a smaller one and they are seeking a more intimate environment.

Downtown Asheville is a six block walk from our property-well under one mile. Google maps lists it as a 18 minutes walk. This should prove a good guide.

My husband and I live in Sonoma County wine country so were intrigued by reports of the beauty in Asheville, NC. Being an eastie by birth I wanted to visit when the fall color was at it's peak. We stayed at Cumberland Falls B&B at the recommendation of friends and were VERY pleased with the ambience and aesthetics, comfort, friendliness, and concierge services which rivaled those from 5 star hotels I've stayed at in the past. But better then the hotels was the friendly at home feel along with the great service. I give it a 4 thumbs up, 5 star rating and would stay there again as well as recommend to family and friends!

We were captivated by the Inn at Cumberland Falls in so many ways! From our room we had a cozy birdseye view, morning sunshine, and the feeling that we were secluded in a treehouse! From the engaging owners, Patti and Gary, to the delightful decor and sumptious food, we were well-pleased! We walked or rode bikes to nearby Asheville restaurants and town shops, and thoroughly enjoyed a stay. Thank you Patti and Gary! :) Tom and Jana

We went to Asheville in late Sept (missed a lot of the Fall colors). Chose Cumberland Falls and couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Daydream room which was 1 of 2 rooms in the converted attic. So neat and unique. Patti and Gary made our stay delightful. Very friendly people!! Gary made sure we had everything we needed, called us ahead of time and had plenty of local recommendations. Breakfast was great. We really enjoyed talking with other guests and Patti and Gary. We'd go back in a heart beat!
