Description: Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

One of the best places for seafood in WNC. Good specials every night of the week. Often has good live local music. Noisy

We really liked the food here, and the service was good despite a SUPER busy night and the fact we didn't have a reservation. We had the oyster sampler and enjoyed them, plus the lobster bisque and plates. I would say the plates are big and very rich - I left almost too full to enjoy the rest of the evening!

Found the restaurant by accident (wanting the brewery only) and it was amazing. Shared a bunch of appetizers and and ny strip. Everything was excellent!!! Favorites were baked oysters, maple bacon scallops, crab cakes, and the seafood bratwurst. Great prices and live music on the weekends. Cool atmosphere and great service. Ask for Katie!!

The Grouper is AMAZING. The restaurant is unique given the price of the entree. It feels like a bar, which can be great or not so great if you are not expecting it.
I would recommend this place if you want GREAT seafood, I mean REALLY GREAT seafood. I would look somewhere else if you are looking for a romantic date night or environment that is more upscale.

Great fresh seafood well prepared in a quaint setting in downtown. The staff were welcoming and informative...the in house brews are a treasure to try. Don't miss this one!!!!!!
