Ok. so this place was such a blast. We sat in the back of restaurant outside in an alleyway. Charming and if you blink you'll think your dining in France. The food was spectacular as we started with a pate of several different things. My steak was nice a little heavy handed on the garlic but we will let it slide. Service was great. Get a bottle there or bring one in with your significant other and enjoy the ambiance and culinary journey.

We ate here a year ago and loved it so returned since we were back in Asheville for the evening. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful.... especially the Lamb Wellington. We were able to eat in the courtyard so everything was delightful......service, atmosphere and most important - the food. We will return whenever we find ourselves back in the area. Wish we had something similar close to our home!

Not knowing what to expect and knowing that they didn't take reservations, we ventured to downtown Asheville to Bouchon on a warm Tuesday night. First off, parking is a bear. After going around the block about 6 times we finally found a spot in a pay lot (on the corner of Lexington and Walnut) -- $2 an hour but it was better than circling the block all night long. Arriving at 7pm, the restaurant was packed but there were 2 seats open at the bar. The bartender (and I am sorry I don't remember her name) was wonderful -- very attentive, personable, funny -- made our dining experience. By the end of the night we were glad there hadn't been a table because we had received more attention and service at the bar than we would have had at a table. The menu has the titles in French with the appropriate pronounciation underneath. We started with the Coquilles de St Jacques Classique -- different from any that we've ever had, nevertheless, they were good. We follwed with entrees of Steak au Poivre and Steak Frites Bouchon. Both were cooked exactly as ordered and nary a morsel was left. For dessert, which neither of us needed (but it's a vacation, so who care?) was the Pêche Melba Roti -- out of this world -- and the Tarte au Citron -- hit the spot perfectly. We had planned to return the following evening but walking all day at the Biltmore wore us out and we slept through dinner time. So if you are in Asheville, go hang out at the bar at Bouchon. Like they say, "Bonjour, Y'all!!".

ate here last october. seated out in the back alley for a very late dinner. it really is an amazingly atmospheric space..... you do feel like you are in a european backstreet cafe. the atmosphere was a bit shattered by the homeless guy lying under a tree just beyond the fencing at the end of their space. it was further destroyed when the homeless guy peed while lying down and then shoved leaves over this area. perhaps that added to the european feel? it was an amazing meal and space. not the restaurant's fault at all.... although the waitress did acknowledge his presence less than 20 feet away.... AFTER we payed.

Great French meal. Cheese tray with pate, all you can eat mussels prepared one of five ways, steak Bouchon, good wine...I'd go back today if I could. And sit in the alley if it's available for great atmosphere.
