“Truely French”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

My wife and I traveled to France last year and enjoyed numerous dining experiences in both the small towns and in Paris. We thought it would be difficult to enjoy a real French dining experience in the U.S., let alone, Asheville. Happily, we were wrong! From the soup to the salad to the entrees we were amazed at the quality of the food and authenticity of the preparation. My wife's Braised Pork Normandie is in her top meals - ever! My Coq Au Vin was perfection on a plate. We were only in Asheville for 2 nights but we couldn't resist coming back the 2nd night for the Steak au Poivre. The extensive wine list featuring, of course, French wines was impressive. Even better, the wait staff was wonderful on both nights and could show the French a thing or two about customer service.

“Yum!”
Reviewed March 19, 2012

Cozy atmosphere. Delicious food! A little on the pricey side ($18-$36 for entrees) but worth it. If you have a big appetite, you may want to get an appetizer. I had the trout almondine. Perfect sized portion and very good. Will go there again.

“Quelle surprise!”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

We knew Asheville had a hip food scene but had no idea we'd get a free trip to Lyon tossed in. This place is a true bistro is every sense of the word the likes of which are hard to find outside France.

Food is authentic, local, and fresh. The seafood is amazingly pristine for a mountain town and the pork shank and the cassoulet are epic.

The wine list is jammed full of some of our favorites but the house wines available by the glass are so well chosen that we feel we'd be missing out if we didn't do a few of the samplings.

This place is memorable.... so much so we rerouted our return from FL back through Asheville to enjoy this restaurant and the town again.

“Rude, overhyped”
Reviewed March 12, 2012

Don't take reservations. LONG waits. We arrived at 8:15 and were told there would be at least a 90" wait. The restaurant closes at 9:30 so my husband said "well won't you be closing by the time we're seated" and the hostess said "yeah but we'll seat you anyway. No guarantees we'll feed you" HUH? The restaurant was jammed, incredibly noisy and I couldnt imagine why people would wait given the number of good restaurants around. Apparently its popular because its popular. Period
