We were visiting Willow Winds for a long weekend wedding of dear friends of ours. With lots of mutual friends coming in from out of town to celebrate, it was the perfect adults at sleep-away camp setting. The WW staff was friendly and super accommodating, and the cabins had everything we would have needed (and some things we didn't expect but loved: like awesome iPod speakers, a snack basket brimming with treats, a hot tub in every cabin and warm comfy robes).

The cabins felt like they were in the middle of nowhere, but everything in Asheville was a short drive away. With a wedding at the NC Arboretum, rehearsal dinner and drinks downtown, and a bachelorette ziplining adventure at Navitat, Willow Winds was the perfect location in the middle of it all. We will be back, and we will be recommending the cabins to others!

Room Tip: Just worth noting, we were two couples sharing a 2 bedroom cabin, and one room had a king bed, the o...

My family and I (including my 3.5 year old son) stayed at Jessie's Magnolia at Willow Winds in Asheville, NC. It was in a beautiful area, and was very close to downtown, grocery stores, etc. We loved the privacy of the cabin! The staff were extremely helpful and nice. My husband and I went zip lining at Navitat in Banardsville. That place is a definite must for anyone looking to do that sort of thing. My dad, husband, and son all rented a boat nearby to do some fishing too! Unfortunately, when my mom and I went shopping in downtown Asheville, it was on a Sunday, and most galleries and shops were closed. My son had so much fun at the little playgrounds they have, and just running around the pond, and looking for newts and turtles! This place is very nice, and worth a try!

The only downsides were:
"Stocked" trout pond : needs some definite "restocking"...no fish! Just one lonely turtle. And they do not sell any bait on premises, but you can walk around and dig for worms yourself, as we did :)
The outside grill: is electric, and very very small. You can grill on it, just add an hour time to whatever you are trying to grill and don't expect the "grill" taste.
The fireplace: open an adjacent window, there is not enough of a draft to get a "roaring" fire. Also, go to the nearby grocery store and purchase duraflame logs. The fire will never get going with the duraflame "sticks" they provide. Believe me, my husband is in the military and very knowledgeable about how to start a proper fire, and even he could not get it going otherwise!
The queen size bed in the upstairs loft needs to be flipped or replaced. You could tell not many "couples" have slept in it...just individuals who clearly prefer the one side! And normal upkeep is needed (painting, new toilet seats, etc)
OH, and most importantly, if you have honey or any "sweet" things...place them in ziploc bags or in the fridge...we encountered an ant infestation towards the end of our stay. Not a big deal, we brought our raid and sprayed a cloth and killed most of them, of course after throwing away the honey, and other things they got into.

It truly was a great week there. I would recommend trying this place!

We thank you for taking time to write us a review and thank you for your recommendation. We do wish you had shared your concerns with us while you were here. We have 24 / 7 maintenance and we could have taken care of any issues for you immediately. With respect to the trout pond, if you had ask, we would have told you that bait (worms) are available at the gas station less than half a mile away. Would would have also advised you that we recommend whole kernel corn which you can buy at the grocery store. The trout really like corn better than worms.

Being in the forest with wooden decks and millions of leaves makes the electric grills the best choice (and they don’t run out of propane at inopportune times!). Gas grills are not an option, for safety reasons.

I was really surprised to read your comment regarding the wood burning fireplace. We have never received any complaints on the type of fire starter we provide and believe me, we have had hundreds of guests who have had fires daily in the fireplace.

We appreciate your comments regarding the bed and have instructed our cleaning crew to rotate the mattress monthly.

If you had let us know about the ants we could have sent our pest control person to tend to them or given you traps from the office we keep on hand.

Again, I am so sorry that you did not bring these items to our attention while you were here. Our guest’s visit is our number one priority and we do everything possible to make sure that our guests are happy.

Thank you again for your comments.

When we arrived at the cabin we were very impressed at how nice everything was. The ladies in the office were extremely friendly and helped us a lot by giving us loads of information of what to do in the area. The cabin itself was lovely. Couldn't of had a better stay. Thanks

We enjoyed 4 wonderful relaxing nights in Larry's Lodge. It was of the best get-aways we have ever had. The cabin was spotless, very comfortable, and so quiet. We would return every day from hiking or exploring Asheville and sit on the deck reading with a glass of wine. Later in the evening we enjoyed sitting in our hot tub. The property is so nice with the fountains, trout pond, games, etc. We definitely are planning a return visit.

We recently spent a long weekend in Asheville and stayed in a cabin at Willow Winds. The cabins are amazing. Private, peaceful, well furnished and well equipped. We could have stayed in the cabin and surrounding area for the entire trip and we would have had a wonderful time. The property has two playgrounds for children, as well as a game porch with air hockey, ping pong, skeeball and a basketball toss game. One playground has a basketball hoop and a badmitton court. We enjoyed all of these amenities! We also hiked up the mountain to the Mountains to Sea trail. If you are interested in hiking this is a great place to stay - a short walk from your cabin and you are on a great trail!
When you are ready to check our Asheville you aren't far away at all. It's a short drive to Biltmore Estate and the Biltmore Village area, and just a little farther to downtown.
This was our second stay at Willow Winds, and we will be back!

I was a little skeptical at first when we arrived at willow winds. The cabins are located behind a residential neighborhood. Thought that was odd. However, when we saw how true to description the cabin was and how clean and nothing to ask for from management for the entire week I was truly astonished. Everyone there was so helpful with anything you wanted to know about the area.
And let me say the area has amazing things to do. Even though our weather that week was just so so that didn't keep us from doing many things. It was definitely worth the 12 hour car trip!! I would highly recommend this trip for peace and quite when you want it and adventure when you want it. This area is beautiful and has everything you are looking for on a vacation. My son just wants to add try navitat for zip lining he can't stop talking about it!!

Room Tip: We stayed at donna's diamond. The waterfall is within view of your deck and you don't have a...

I appreciate your taking the time to write a review on our property. We have so many fountains, that almost anywhere on the property you can enjoy the sound of water and nature. I'm glad you enjoyed Donna's Diamond and we hope you will come back to visit us again soon. The reason for our location is that our property backs up to the Blue Ridge Parkway therefore nothing will ever be built around.

Thanks again for taking the time to write your review.

Best nights sleep of my life. The beds are ridiculous in there! Very clean, very private, out in the woods, but close to everything. Upon checking in, you may rent (for free) a book or movie if you decide to stay in. The cabins are modern, but still feel woodsy. Pond is stock with trout, the redworms worked best for us when fishing. We planned a weekend getaway in the spring and it was just amazing. Still chilly outside, so the fire was perfect for a rainy cool evening in :) The cabins are crazy close to everything, while still being secluded. The prices are great, compared to other rentals we looked at and nothing is lacking. This will be where we continue to stay when going to the mountains! If you stay, make sure to check out the horse riding at Sandy Ridge and waterfalls in Pisgah national forest!

Room Tip: The cabins on Trout Trail have the BEST view. You are literally IN the trees when looking out the wi...
