This hotel was very nice and charming. The staff was friendly, great breakfast and the rooms were romantic and warm!

The only thing I disliked about the hotel was the floors and walls were so thin you could hear every single move of anyone above you or outside your room. But this is typical of older buildings.

What I did like was that I could book for one night only and most of the bed and breakfast places had a two or three night minimum.

Lovely restored historic hotel....the rooms (each is a suite) were very comfy and spacious. Staff was very helpful although not as knowledegable about the area as I expected. My complaints were three: 1) the breakfasts were very mediocre (I had read they were fabulous and yummy...I don't consider scrambled eggs and frozen sausage patties particularly yummy). 2) for such an expensive, refined hotel I expected "two top sheets" (just a pet peeve of mine). 3. Using the beautiful claw foot tub in our room was like taking your life in your own hands; very high step to get in, shaky tub-shaped rod for shower curtain, curved bottom with very little safe footing and one semi-distant towel bar to hold onto to get out. Now, granted, we are older, but not so decrepit that exiting a tub is usually a problem. Maybe a hand bar of some type would help. Oh, the wine and cheese in the afternoon is a very nice touch with some interesting wines but the cheese offerings are nothing to write home about.

We've stayed in several different B&B's in Asheville, NC. After our recent three days at the Princess Anne Hotel, we are converts! The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and willing to help with directions, reservations and details. Our room was spacious, clean and well designed. Amenities included an afternoon wine and appetizers social, house-made truffles and biscotti and high quality coffees and teas in our room. We're happy to recommend the Princess Anne to our friends and will return there ourselves on our frequent visits to Asheville.
