“No barks about it!”
Reviewed July 6, 2008

We stayed here for two nights during the fourth of July holiday. We were very pleased with the quality of the room, the helpful staff, and delicious room service breakfast potatoes. Aside from the potatoes, room service was not great. The food took 30 minutes longer than promised, the oatmeal did not come as advertised (no berries or raisins make oatmeal bland), and staff seemed to expect a tip over the included 18% gratuity which was uncomfortable.

We brought our dog because the hotel was advertised as pet friendly. The staff did seem to be very pet friendly, but other customers staying on our floor were not aware that pets were allowed, and were not understanding of some barking in the afternoon. After our first noise complaint, we were anxious for the rest of the trip since the hotel issues a $150 fine for a second offense. It would have been nice if the hotel staff had alerted other guests that they were staying on a dog friendly floor so they could have been more understanding or could have chosen a different floor.

  • Liked — Pet friendly staff and rooms.
  • Disliked — Other guests not alerted to pet policy.

I stayed two nights here...after staying several nights in a less than mediocre Best Western in Asheville. This resort is fairly nice...spacious, nice little upgrades, and a pretty comfortable bed. The hotel is a bit out of the way though...a little far from the Asheville action for my taste. Would probably be nice for a honeymooning couple wanting to get away from everyone else and stay in bed all day. I'm not sure about the breakfast, golf, or room service...as I did quite a bit of shopping and eating away from the hotel. All in all, okay hotel....location is could be better...but it probably just depends on what you're in Asheville to do. Also....there is a pretty good bar there with WiFi access.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms and bar with WiFi access...nice decor in lobby also
  • Disliked — Location

My husband and I booked this hotel as part of a visitor's package to the Biltmore Estate. I was a little concerned about the hotel b/c the price was so low, but we were very pleased with our stay. The room was clean, neat, updated. The full breakfast for guests is quite nice, and the distance to sights within Asheville is easy to navigate. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night at the Crowne Plaza Ahseville, and was pleased with the stay.
Yes, this hotel has been around for some time, but since the switch from a Holiday Inn to Crowne Plaza, the rooms are in great shape.
Stayed in an executive king room which was wonderful. The room was very clean and large. Room also included a nice balcony overlooking part of the golf course.
Everything in the room was in great condition and appeared to be newer.
A nice living room set up with a sofa and two chairs along with a coffee table. The furniture was clean and was actually comfortable.
A large desk with free Wi-Fi was located on the other side of the room, along with a large armoire where the TV was house.
Very comfortable king bed along the usual Crowne Plaza sleep accessories.
Large, clean and well lit bath was well maintained and stocked with some decent soaps and shampoos.
Room also included a nice little coffee set-up and small fridge.
Large closet along with an iron and ironing board.
While we didn't explore the property we were more than pleased with the room.
We only had breakfast which we ordered via room service. Food arrived on time and was hot. Food was good and everything was prepared as ordered. I have to say that the Crowne Plaza Asheville has one of the least expensive room service menu's I have seen.
The location is a bit tricky to find, but we had no problems when using our GPS to locate. The staff was very friendly at check in and we received a call shortly after settling in the room to make sure everything was satisfactory.
We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Because we book often with Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express we thought this property would be at least as nice as a Holiday Inn Express. The minute we pulled up to the reception area I thought, "Oh, brother . . . this looks pretty sad." It is an old property that has had some upgrades done to the rooms and the reception area. The pictures on the internet do not show the overall tired appearance of this property. Our room was $150.00 for the night, no breakfast, no other perks. Also, the pool was drained and the golf course needed some serious attention. We walked over to the time share area where villas are situated. This part of the property is very strange with "yurt" style villas situated on small rolling hills. It is simply a large, awkward piece of land smashed between a freeway and a railroad. The other reviewers were correct when they mentioned that this property is popular with conventions. Well unless you are attending one of those conventions pick another place to stay. The nights we stayed the property was overrun with two conventions. Lastly, it is very, very difficult to find so be prepared for a crazy trip through a shopping center parking lot, then down a frontage road, then along a long driveway before you arrive.

Despite of a lot of not too good reviews, we let our travel agent book a room for one night.
We, my wife and me, were surprised about our room: especially the overnight kit: anything to do with a good sleep: even music.
I must say that I have asked for a renovated room due to earlier reviews: and so we get.
Very friendly personal and even a voucher for our breakfast.
We have a very good sleep, a nice viewt o the green and we do also get good information how to drive to town and where to eat.
A great place to stay for a while!

We were in Asheville for a 2-day Volleyball Tournament. The Crowne Plaza was selected as the "tournament" hotel. So we booked a 2 night stay. The rooms are large and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately, we encountered some problems. 1. Light bulb in bathroom went out. Bathroom was pitch dark and we needed to shower. Called front desk and at 9:30 pm. Had no response from anyone and we eventually went to bed. Used the bedside lamp in the morning. 2. Hotel runs out of hot water when too many people are showering. We had cold showers both mornings. 3. Did not receive our wake up call. 4. While packing the car up in the morning I was approached by a homeless man who asked me to get him some food !! Was a little disturbing. On a good note, hotel honored their policy concerning missed wake up calls and reimbursed us for the room.
