There is nothing I would recommend to improve. Location is fabulous-close to Asheville but remote setting is ideal. Bear is a fabulous host ( Patti was away but Bear did a great with help from Ronald)-spot on recommendations for hikes, restaurants, attractions. Room and Inn immaculate, grounds well tended. We will definetly return!

Room Tip: Loved the Chestnut Suite with its private deck

This was our first stay at a B&B and it was a wonderful experience. Bear and Patti were great hosts. The breakfasts were to die for (the waffles were the best). They gave us a chance to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting. It was a great experience.

Staying at the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn has been one of my favorite vacations! I travel often and to many places and still return to this place to relax and recharge. The Inn is just a few minutes from Downtown Asheville however it feels like a different world. It truly is a mountain retreat with lush trees, beautiful rooms, fabulous inn-keepers (wow, what chefs) and a rock patio to sit and enjoy the birds, peacefulness and fire pit. I've met many friends here and cherish their friendships. The Inn Keepers are truly wonderful people!!! I highly recommend a visit!

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Some rooms have balconies and the suites are very roomy.

Crooked oak mountain inn is a great place to go if you're looking to get away from it all. Its up in the mountains above Asheville and perched on a cliff. From your room window all you see is trees. The atmosphere is a like a mountain cabin, and a little bit like staying with out of town family. Only you aren't forced to drag them around everywhere. The place looked kinda of like my mother had decorated it, but it gives it the homey feel. The innkeeper, Bear, is very friendly and along with Patti, his wife, they make some good breakfasts. Only real downside up here is you're a ways out of the action. Driving up and down the mountain takes a little bit and if you're not a confident mountain driver can be intimidating. All the rooms have private bathrooms, but ours wasn't ensuite.

We would definitely recommend staying at Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. It was extremely clean and comfortable, and moreover, Patti and Bear were ideal hosts. The food was great, they both had excellent recommendations on places to eat and see, and were more than accommodating in every way. It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend, and we'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a bed and breakfast in the mountains outside of Asheville.

Staying at Crooked Oak is like going home. This is my second visit to the Inn and the experience was amazing. Visiting Asheville in October to see the Fall colors was amazing in itself. Our Inn visit was once again, the best ever. Patti and Bear, along with Ron, are so attentive to their guests needs. Providing maps, suggestions for places to stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway, restaurants, shopping, quaint places to visit.

Their eye for detail in each sleeping room is exquisite. Soaps, shampoo, soft robes, towels and the most comfortable bed and pillows I have slept on away from home.

Bear ensures that everyone is welcome each day with a huge smile and the best breakfast spreads ever. My daughter, who is not a morning person, was up and ready to go by 8 am every day! All food is homemade and the aromas in the morning enticed us right to the dining room.

The warmth of the Inn, the Inn keepers and the surrounding property, definitely made us feel like we were home, once again.

Love, love Crooked Oak and would not stay anywhere else when in Asheville :)

This was our second visit to Asheville, and our second stay at Crooked Oak, and it will not be the last for my Mother and I. After making your way up the winding roads to the peaceful setting of the B and B, the innkeepers extend a warm and genuine welcome to their home. When you step through the doors, you are instantly relaxed and feel like you are in the living room of one of your closest friends. Patti and Bear provide an overnight experience you crave when trying to detach from reality and explore what the mountains have to offer. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with Thymes products and comfy robes in the restrooms. Take time to explore the wonderfully thought out landscapes and paths of Crooked Oak, and be sure to adventure off into the surrounding areas of the great Asheville location. Patti and Bear will give you knowledgeable suggestions, & provide explicit directions as well. A deliciously prepared and perfectly presented breakfast will get everyday started in the right direction. Hot Coffee, a variety of juices, fresh fruit, homemade pastries, made to order eggs, Bear's speciality waffles, my favorite breakfast potatoes, preserves, jams...just to give you a taste of their offerings. Attention to detail is obvious in every part of the experience at Crooked Oak Mountain Inn! Stay with Patti and Bear if you want your Asheville stay to be a memorable one.
