We were planning a two-week road trip including stops in Nashville, Chicago, Michigan (for our son's wedding), Mackinac Island, and Asheville. We reserved all our hotel lodgings online, and decided to take a chance on a B&B in Asheville. We discovered Crooked Oak Mountain Inn during an internet search and decided to give it a shot. What a wonderful surprise!! It is truly a gem! The setting in and amongst nature is peaceful and rejuvenating, especially after our long trip staying in one hotel after another. We were immediately and enthusiastically greeted by Bear who welcomed us to his lovely home, and offered great recommendations for what to see and do in Asheville, including the Antique Tobacco Barn where we found stained glass pieces that we had been searching for. Breakfasts were truly gourmet and home-cooked delicious. We wish we could have stayed longer, and absolutely will return to the Inn in the not too distant future! Hopefully next time we will meet Patti who was out of town during our stay. Beth & Brian

A group of us - brothers, sisters and spouses - traveled to Asheville this past May. The weather was less than perfect for the trip down, but it didn't matter once we got the the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. The setting is beautiful - wooded, and with beautiful outside seating in the gardens. The house too is special. Built on the side of the mountain, it is a very unusual shape.

Patti and Bear couldn't have made us feel more welcome. The food, conversation and of course, the accommodations were excellent. They went above and beyond to make our stay a truly memorable one. By the time we left, we felt like we were leaving family.

The Crooked Oak Mountain Inn is definitely on our list of places we will keep returning to!

Recently, overcome by the heat of summer in our state, we decided to head to the mountains. Asheville looked inviting and the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn seemed to capitalize on the best the mountains have to offer. Patti and Bear made our stay delightful with their warm hospitality, delicious meals and recommendations on all things local. Our room was lovely, comfortable and afforded a gorgeous view of nature...just what we'd hoped for. Patti and Bear exhibit a joy about sharing their home and their city that is contagious!

We have stayed at the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn several times over the past 8 years. I don't know whether it is the cheerful kindness of Patti and Bear, the delightful aromas coming from the kitchen, the linens and the fresh mountain air, or the way the stress melts away when we walk thorugh the door, but being there is magical. At this point we go to Asheville more to stay at the Inn than we do to visit Asheville (although we enjoy Asheville and the Inn is very convenient to downtown, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore House, etc.). The only downside is that we don't get to stay forever....

We needed an "end of summer" getaway, and Crooked Oak Mt Inn didn't fail. Patti and Bear - always amazing - helped up arrange ziplining adventures, white water rafting, and turned us on to some of their favorite hikes on the Blue Ridge Parkway (seconds away).

Just the right mix of action and chill - Asheville has some of the best dining spots in NC, and the Inn supports that with the most amazing breakfasts that keep you so you don't have to rush to lunch!!

My only wish - that Labor Day weekend wasn't only 3 days ...

Room Tip: I LOVE the suites (personally) as they have a king plus pull out / balcony. Other rooms have king o...

We have been enjoying Crooked Oak Mtn Inn and the hospitality of Patti and Bear for over 8 years. This trip we were here with 6 friends for a relaxing weekend. As always, the rooms are lovely, GREAT SHEETS, and breakfast is delicious. But mostly, Patti and Bear always make us,
and everyone of our friends we have sent here, feel so welcome and comfortable. It is not surprising that so many of the people who come here consider themselves friends. So thanks again for a great weekend. Can't wait til the next time.

Room Tip: We have stayed in both suites and regular rooms and all are furnished differently, with their own in...

We were welcomed into the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn with smiles and a glass of wine. We spent some time in their delightful garden before having a pizza delivered and eating it on the porch. It was cool and pleasant in our rooms and we all slept well.

Breakfast was wonderful and we left for the Biltmore House with good directions. This was important as GPS does not work in the Smoky Mountains. Recommend it highly.
