A tall structure as a monument to a man who owes part of his success to the slaves he owned but no credit is given to them.

“It's OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

Nothing really special about it. It is in the middle of town and its tall and old. We were not really going to it, we happened to walk past it on our way to the general store. There are some little statues around it and some history about it, I didnt read it though.

“This section of downtown is so beautiful.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

My wife and I had our first date walking the square near the monument. Now while the monument itself is nothing to really look at the surrounding buildings and fountains are beautiful. We even had or ceremony in a small grassy section near the monument where we also had our first kiss. We still go there every time we are in town.

“An impressive monument for an impressive man pivotal in NC history!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

The Vance monument located in downtown Asheville is impressive with its towering height. Zeb Vance's leadership helped the people of NC survive after the Civil War ended. His role as govenor and then in the senate helped NC continue to thrive and flourish. A little trivia, Zeb Vance was a 33rd degree Freemason and there are 33 rows in this monument. Nice landmark to add to the list of things to see while walking around downtown Asheville!

“It is tall, but not as special as the Washington DC Monument”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

It is tall.... that is about it. I live in the Washington Metropolitan Area and it is difficult to be WOWed when I have the Washington DC Monument to compare to. Sorry :-(
