Great experience. Creative. Unique. Wonderful food. This is one of the places that is a must visit. Been in Asheville since 1993. That's saying something.

I went here on a bachelorette weekend and had dinner on a Friday night. We walked from our hotel just a few blocks away and waited 20 minutes for a table which is super short with a large party on a popular night out. While we were waiting, we ordered margaritas on the side bar and they were delicious! Once seated in the restaurant we ordered a couple appetizers and our entrees (some of us split since we could tell the portions were large). The food was amazing, such great flavor and a very interesting menu with a TON of choices! This is a great place to eat and I highly recommend!

The "ultimate" molcajetes in a stove heated ceramic bowl is excellent, rich in flavor and with several grilled meats. Piping hot and just the right kick for a cold winter evening.

Fun and casual place for lunch. Don't think I would be interested in it for dinner...very casual and crowded and not a dinner kind of ambiance. Located in the center area of town near the square, so it is convenient for browsing all the art galleries etc located nearby. Portions are large and there are lots of menu choices that sound very interesting. Be prepared to wait for a table on Saturday afternoon! There is outdoor seating in the alley beside the building which can get hot and uncomfortable in the summer, but at least it provides more seating for the waiting patrons.

I had lunch with a twelve year-old and she cleaned her plate! She had a burrito which sounded familiar to her since she is Mexican, but I wanted to expose her to some slightly different interpretations....we had a great time!

This is NOT typical Tex -Mex food. It's better! It is small and tables are very close together so it is not a quite , intimate place. The food makes up for that though. We could see that our neighbors' plates were huge so we decided to order an appetizer and share an entree.
We ordered chips and 3 types of salsa. They offered about 6 types to choose from. We ordered the avocado, the smoked tomato and the tomato and chipotle peanut. Chips looked and tasted home made and the salsas were very fresh and yummy.
We ordered the Pom Pom bowl with pork. It is served in a large, very unique wooden bowl thing. It was a delicious combination of pork, greens, rice, pineapple, plantains, and fontina cheese and probably other spices and such. So different and delicious.
Please try Salsa's when you are in the Asheville area. You won't regret it!
