We were in the area for a dog show and since we didn't want to leave our pup in the car or hotel, we wanted to find a dog friendly restaurant at which to dine. We came across Mayfel's right in the heart of downtown Asheville and can't say enough great things about it!

We were able to enjoy a fun dinner outdoors in Mayfel's beer garden and our dog was able to be with us, outside, and enjoy the company of a few other dogs. It was great!

The staff is SUPER friendly and accommodating--we could have sat either out front next to the pedestrian area/across from the park & people-watched or sat back in the enclosed beer garden (as mentioned before, we chose the latter)...it was nice to have a couple options. Note: If you choose the beer garden option, be sure to walk around to the back entrance and go down the stairs to find the hostess.

The food was yummy--burgers were juicy & fries were crisp--and the beer selection was great! Our waiter was extremely friendly & fun; he was good with our children (ages 6 & 7) and attentive to our dog whom he brought a pail of water and dog treats.

To be sure, even the beer garden area is kid friendly.

The atmosphere is mellow yet fun; definitely laid back and easy-going!

Extremely happy that we found Mayfel's! We will definitely go back!

We visited Mayfel's on a Sunday just before noon. As with all restaurants in that area of Asheville, there was already a 30-40 min wait for a table. We didn't have to wait because we ran in to friends who were waiting for friends who were running late. They invited us to join their party since otherwise they would have just lost the table. Mayfel's will not seat you unless your entire party is present, so make sure your party is going to be there at the same time or you have to start your wait all over again. The hostess was very nice about working out the best arrangement for our friends and while she didn't promise anything, she still managed to seat the late comers next to our table so it all worked out well.

The big highlight on a Sunday (after noon!) is the Bloody Mary Bar. The waitress will bring you a glass with ice and vodka and then you go up to the bar to add all of the rest of the fixings which include just about anything you can think of adding to a Bloody Mary. Most of the people in our party had a Bloody Mary and they all were very happy with the fixings at the bar.

Another must try is an order of Beignets. Ours arrived piping hot and covered in powdered sugar. They were delicious!

The menu is a mix of breakfast and lunch items. I had the French Toast special which was a four slices of thick Brioche french toast with berries and cream. It came with a choice of sausage. I got the veggie sausage and it was not that great. The taste was ok, but it was an overcooked little brown hockey puck. The French toast was very good and a huge portion. I wish I had asked for some maple syrup on the side as with the just the berry juice it was a bit dry, but very tasty. Two people in our party got Eggs Benedict. One was the traditional with Canadian Bacon/Ham and the other was with crab cakes. Both parties loved their choice. Another member of our party got a Breakfast Burrito which was a huge flour tortilla filled with your typical breakfast items.

The restaurant is not huge and is always packed, but it was still comfortable. There is also some outdoor patio seating. Restrooms are "singles" but very clean.

When the bill came we realized that we hadn't really even looked at prices when ordering..so we were very pleased that our total bill for 4 people including 3 Bloody Marys was only $54. That seemed very reasonable for the amount of food we had.

Second choice for restaurant turned into the best choice! Not native to the dining scene in Asheville I didn't know what to expect but the meal was pretty good and the atmosphere inviting. Sangria can be skipped but the burger was pretty good - ran out of sweet potato fries so I didn't get everything I wanted....but the bread pudding and french press coffee was heavenly delicious!

We stumbled upon Mayfel's this past weekend and had the best pickles ever! They were made on site. They were a spicy Cajun flavor and sliced very thin. They also sell the pickles by the quart, but were sold out when we were there. The decor of the restaurant was cool and eclectic. There was outdoor and indoor seating available. We ordered burgers which were just okay and pretty pricy. With tip and iced teas we spent $75.00. I will go back to buy the pickles, but for that reason only.

Our wedding weekend guests raved about breakfast with you. Great place for any meal, any time. Adorable little patio out back for outdoor seating.
