“Nice place with fun look, but food was gross.”

Real nice place with fun atmosphere, but food was gross. I got the po-boy and my guest got a chicken plate. I was green for hours. Servers were dirty, but the restaraunt itself was very clean.

“Better Than Average”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

My wife and I went to Mayfel's one Sunday evening with our grandson and his fiance. We arrived about 6:oo PM and had a 40 minute wait for a table. The restaurant has a few outside tables along the sidewalk and maybe a dozen tables inside, packed pretty close together. The food was very good and the portions more than adequate, but the prices were a little high in my opinion -- especially considering the long wait and the lack of privacy once we were seated. There is really no ambiance to speak of and private conversations are difficult because of the tight quarters. I would rate the restaurant better than average, but not exceptional.

“Pretty good food; but it was reheated from the day before”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

We went there for brunch. Service was good. My crab cake came out cold in places and hot in others (a tell tale sign of being microwaved). The server happily reheated it and then all was fine. It was not the best crab cake I've ever eaten, but was pretty good. My husband ordered huevos rancheros. His food was delicious. He also ordered a bloody Mary from the "make it yourself bloody Mary bar," kind of a fun gimick.

“Bloody Mary Bar!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

the food here was excellent, but i was really excited about the bloody mary bar. i'd never seen one before and thought it was so neat. we were there on a saturday - i think it's a weekend thing. if you order it, they bring you your glass with the vodka in it and then you make your drink at the bar, choosing from different mixes plus all the add-ons, like lime, celery, olives, peppers, etc. but even if you don't care about the bloody mary, the food was excellent too.
