This is NOT a "Greek" restaurant, for those who don't know the difference. That said, the Jerusalem Garden Cafe' offers freshly prepared, beautifully presented, AUTHENTIC middle-eastern cuisine including small plates, salads, sandwiches & wraps, and entrees... all available for lunch or dinner. Delicious & creative specials are also available. Our food and service were excellent, and all of their menu items appear to be reasonably priced & good values. There is some limited outdoor seating, and the interior is done in middle-eastern style. Very relaxed & comfortable. We understood that some evenings there are "belly dancers" providing entertainment. They offer beer & wine, but no mixed drinks. Regardless, there are more than enough very tasty items to hold & excite your interest and completely satisfy your palate'. We'd suggest that you check out their menu online before you go, so that the difficulty of choosing your meal when you are there will be made much easier.

We wanted to try something that we have never had before. We had been to Asheville several times to have dinner and always wanted to try this restaurant but never had until now. It was a nice restaurant with a lot of culture and good food.

We discovered Jerusalem Garden Cafe on a previous visit to Asheville. On this visit we brought our college-age son. "Eat here with us. It's like our experience of food when we visited Jerusalem." The service is attentive and the food is superb. We appreciate the memories of our Middle East visits and will always be at Jerusalem Garden Cafe when we are in Asheville.

I am originally from the Middle East, and if it was not for the fact that the menu was in English, I would not have been able to tell a difference between eating at Jerusalem Garden Cafe and sitting in a restaurant back home. Frank (the owner) has crafted an authentic Middle Eastern experience that brings forth and emphasizes every individual flavor in the meal. We started with the zaatar-covered pita and the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes stack, simple and exquisite. We then tried the vegetarian platter, which included falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tahini, and stuffed grape leaves. Even with all the different foods on our plate, every element of the dish maintained its integrity and unique flavor. On top of it all, the service was excellent (thank you, Hailey!)

Truly, if you are in search of a Middle Eastern dining experience, you will be hard-pressed to find other restaurants of this caliber--either within or outside of Asheville.

My family of four had dinner here in early August. We sat in the back room, which is draped with curtains and feels like the inside of a tent! The decor is great in this restaurant and certainly makes you feel like you are in the middle east. We started off with some stuffed grape leaves that were very good. We ordered the chef's specials of the evening. Two of us had the sampler plate and two of us had the lamb shank. All four of our meals were excellent! The lamb shanks fell off the bone and were full of flavor. The sampler plate featured different types of lamb and delicious lamb chops, kabobs and lamb kibbehs. The kibbehs were lightly fried cracked wheat shell stuffed with sauteed lamb, onion, and pine nuts with harissa organic yogurt. They were excellent and the surprise of the night! The portions were generous and food well prepared and presented. Our waiter was excellent and helped us to navigate the menu and pick out some good meals. My wife and I had a very good local beer with dinner that again our waiter helped us pick. We completed our meals with Turkish coffees and some dessert, which were all good. Prices are not cheap here, but the food and service is worth it. The added bonus is the traditional belly dancer and the live musicians that are playing Turkish music. This was a nice addition to the restaurant and really served to set the tone. This is definitely a good place to go!
