This could be a real gem but it is not managed to be at all like the Inn across the street. The bottles at the bar all have large red labels from either a control system or a sale. I would avoid even though the trolley driver recommended it.

I am so sorry your visit with us did not live up to your expectations. As we are not part of the Inn it is not surprising that we have differences from them. As far as the "large red labels" those are a North Carolina tax stamp and without them being visible at all times we are subject to fines. I would like to hear further about your service issues as you made no reference to them in your written review.

Thank you so much for your time.

We were a party of 7 with 2 young children. There was a Bridal Dinner in the main room so we were in the bar area. Once we gave our orders it was at least 45 minutes before bread arrived. Another 45 minutes before the food arrived and that was with my inquiring. "Well we have a large party tonight" was the response. So, if they can't handle the patrons, close the restaurant. Even the youngsters wondered where the food was. Food was good once it arrived.

You will be stunned and amazed by the food and the friendly look you in the eye service. It is a cute little cottage next to the Grove Park Inn and is a great alternative to the restaurants in the hotel. The food is super fresh from the market and was delicious. . That said, if I had 10k, I would totally revamp the inside and turn this diamond in the rough into gem. Heck, a 1k upgrade could help the place which is stuck in a bad 80's with a touch of nursing home vibe.

Please don't let it dissuade you from going here, though. I had been warned of the decor ahead of time and just prepared myself for it. Also, you can BYOB.

After 40 minutes of waiting for out food, we still did not have as much as a piece of bread brought to us. We mentioned that one person needed to take medication with food and still nothing. We got a lot of attitude from our server and finally walked out without our food ever appearing.

We took a group there and they did a great job of serving the group. The food was super and they offered a variety of items to suit everyone in the group. The wait staff went out their way to be helpful even offering to take photos for us. I would suggest it to any one staying at the Grove Park to walk over to the Grovewood Cafe for a wonderful meal.
