Description: Our Southern dishes and libations are served with a creative twist and a smile, and we serve our guests nothing that we wouldn't want on our own supper table. When we play with our food (and we think it's okay), the result is scrumptious. We're rooted in the Mountain South, and our menu is inspired by time-honored traditions: pickling and frying, canning and preserving, and utilizing seasonal produce and ingredients to prepare delicious, scratch-made creations.

I guess it's always crowded, but we arrived at 6:00 pm waited an hour for a table for four, and then didn't get our food until almost 8:00.. The food was very good. The trout, nutty chicken, and crab cakes all quite good. The black eyed peas, greens, and the mashed sweet potato that came with the nutty chicken were all great. The biscuits...just ok.

Went on a Sunday night, called an hour before we arrived and asked to be put on the 'wait' list as we were around the corner at the Jack of the Wood pub (AWESOME!) we went to the restaurant an hour later, then waited another fifteen minutes outside in the street for a table.
Crowded joint, kitchen yelled for the whole meal, plus the crowded room made it tough to talk.
Waiter was friendly. Biscuits were delicious, other food just good, not exceptional.
Went once, do not think I need to go back, I prefer quieter, less hectic joints.

Arrived in Saturday 11/9/2013 at 6:10, seated at 7:35. Wait staff is slow to arrive at table, slow to bring drinks, slow to take order, slow to bring checks, slow to return with credit cards! Food was just ok. I had Bryan's Shrimp & Grits, the grits were thick, the shrimp was a little over cooked, way too many peppers! The biscuits & jam were very good. This located isn't as good as the other one. I will not be back to this location.

I feel my experience at this restaurant could have gone a lot differently. It has a great reputation and is very vegetarian friendly, so I was pretty excited to see all the great options on the menu, however, two things soured this experience for me.

First, we waited a little over an hour for a table for two. This isn't a huge deal cause there is great people watching and interesting stores to visit, however, when we were finally seated it was outside (in November) and in the unheated, new addition to the outdoor seating area.

Are you serious? We were cold, ate with our jackets on, and subsequently the food got cold rather quickly.

With that being said, the Grateful Dead Black Bean Burger was tasty and sweet potato fries were alright. The wife's plate of three veggie items was OK. Fried green tomatoes stood out, while the cheesy cauliflower mash and Benne Coated Asparagus were bland and flavorless.

We expected more out of this beloved restaurant.

Get rid of the cold, outdoor seating area or make sure the entire place is warm and inviting and you'd probably have a lot more happy customers.
