Description: Our Southern dishes and libations are served with a creative twist and a smile, and we serve our guests nothing that we wouldn't want on our own supper table. When we play with our food (and we think it's okay), the result is scrumptious. We're rooted in the Mountain South, and our menu is inspired by time-honored traditions: pickling and frying, canning and preserving, and utilizing seasonal produce and ingredients to prepare delicious, scratch-made creations.

“Tupelo's a Honey of the restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Visited Tupelo Honey Cafe last week on a business trip to Asheville. I am a woman who travels alone on business fairly often. Tupelo was very comfortable for a solo diner. The atmosphere is funky and cozy. They have a "bar" that overlooks the kitchen that is great for singles. Food is upscale, Southern with a twist. I had the garlic chicken with mac & cheese. It was yummy-seasoned perfectly. The star is the biscuit served with jam and honey. It was scrumptious. Not lo-cal by any means, but worth every calorie. Wine list is somewhat limited. This place is very busy. I went early at 6:30 pm at it was packed. When I left at 7:45 pm there was a line to get in. A great find! I highly recommend and will go back.

Grits with goat cheese and fried green tomatoes excellent. Fried chicken was okay..a bit dry.
Biscuits are worth the trip.
Nice flight of whiskey too

“Worth a meal or many”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

Tupelo Honey Cafe is an amazing find if you discover yourself searching for a really great meal in downtown Asheville. The restaurant's menu ranges from the simple to the creative, all with a touch to southern flare. They have plenty of options of those following vegetarian or vegan diets, as well as those in search of gluten-free options. The only drawback is that the space is a bit small and its delicious menu keeps it quite busy. The line for a table, especially on weekends, can be a bit long, but the amazing southern food is worth the wait!

“Excellent Food”

Wait is a bit long but worth it. Shrimp and grits are rhe best I've ever had from Atlanta to Charleston. Fried chicken was moist and flavorfull. Oh yes, bloody mary was A+.

“Good local place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

We have tied both locations and while this one can get very crowded the food is good. We have tried both breakfast and lunch and sometimes split a meal because the portions are large.
