“Good food, great service, nice wine list”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We decided on a small plate dinner so we could try several things. The lobster bisque was fantastic! Also I highly recommend the mixed green salad with HNG pork belly and the crab spring rolls. We also had the smoked salmon cakes, which I thought were good, but not great and the chocolate souffle. The souffle was served with a caramel sauce and a creme sauce, but I am not terribly fond of caramel, so this would be better reviewed by someone else. Our waiter was Lee and he was great! Tom had a glass of beer with his meal and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Chablisienne which was very nice, but was served too cold. Both the wine and beer lists were excellent - had a nice selection and not overpriced. I look forward to returning to Chestnut again and trying some of their large plates.

“Wow! Impressive! Definitely a keeper”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Ate at Chestnut for the first time. Have eaten at their other restaurant (Corner Kitchen) many times (it's great too!). Nice remodeled, contemporary facility in downtown Asheville. Food was great - very tasty. We shared a bowl of Lobster Bisque - wonderful. My wife had the Triggerfish and I had the Apple Crusted Trout. Both were very excellent. Waiter, Lee, was excellent. The manager gave us a free desert because she thought we waited too long for our dinner. We didn't think the wait was too long or the compensation needed, but, wow, the Souffle was out of this world. Will definitely get it again. We will return. Now ranks as one of our favorites in our Asheville area.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

Exceptional food! Fabulous atmosphere for a couple or a group. Service is attentive and knowledgeable. Wonderful "soup of the day" and unique fried green tomatoes with goat cheese pimento cheese and tomato jam. I'm ready to go back very soon.
