If you are traveling and in a bit of a hurry, this is the place to stop. You will get a complete overview of art and artists in the mountain area and the beautiful as well as creative things the produce. From quilts to pottery and back again.

If you are on the Blue Ridge Parkway definitely stop here. It doesnt take long to see, but is full of beautiful handmade items (I especially loved the quilts). Besides the crafts for sale there is a nice gift shop of parkway and NC souvenirs.

I enjoyed the Folk Art Center which displays local artisan's crafts. Not just a museum. You can purchase items as well.

I always recommend people from out of town to go here for a little while. Viewing local art and crafts as well as see some of the history in the area are what any tourist is looking for! Upon occasion, there are demonstrations (normally in warm weather on the weekends, but not every). Be aware of the weather, the Parkway is often shut down for long periods of time during the winter due to inclement weather.
