Owner description: McCormick Field opened its gates for the first time in 1924 when the Asheville Tourists played host to the Detroit Tigers. Over the years the stadium has encountered numerous renovations, most recently a seating bowl makeover in 2015, that has ensured the stadium remains up with the times while keeping its lustrous history and throwback feel. With a capacity of just over 4,000, the dynamic during a game is intimate and scenic. It is a hitter friendly Minor League ballpark thanks to a short porch in right field and a 42-foot high wall in right-center. McCormick Field is still inhabited by the Asheville Tourists, the Single A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

This is a sweet little gem. The game is very entertaining itself plus the end-of-innings 'activities' that occur. It is definitely kid-friendly (except maybe Thirsty Thursdays). McCormick Field is small, homey, comfy, and reminiscent of bygone days.

“Baseball in the Mountains”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

Minor league baseball in a cozy stadium. The play is on the field but in between innings the stadium crew will keep you entertained. Mr Moon and Teddy Tourist will visit the kids. There is a no alcohol zone for good family fun. The fireworks are busy nights and they are worth watching.
Part of Bull Durham with Kevin Kostner was filmed in the old stadium. Get the movie and watch the last 5 minutes. NASCAR once raced at this stadium.
Go for the history and stay for the fun.

A Tourist game is always fun! The stadium atmosphere is amazing, easy to access food and drinks, and a very helpful staff make this the perfect night out in Asheville. We cannot wait for next season to begin.

“Go Tourists!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

I was visiting friends and they suggested getting last minute tickets to the game. We were running very late to the game and actually didn't arrive until the top of the eighth inning. Yikes! Folks were leaving as we were walking up to the field. We hurried in and took the first seats we saw. The Tourists were three points behind when we arrived but ended up winning thee game! Even though we were only there a short time it was super fun to be so close to the field unlike where we are from where the facility is tremendous! Great time!!!!

“Really fun!!”

We sat in the BoGangle's seats and they are well worth the extra money. But I think sitting any where would be great. Good family fun!
