Owner description: McCormick Field opened its gates for the first time in 1924 when the Asheville Tourists played host to the Detroit Tigers. Over the years the stadium has encountered numerous renovations, most recently a seating bowl makeover in 2015, that has ensured the stadium remains up with the times while keeping its lustrous history and throwback feel. With a capacity of just over 4,000, the dynamic during a game is intimate and scenic. It is a hitter friendly Minor League ballpark thanks to a short porch in right field and a 42-foot high wall in right-center. McCormick Field is still inhabited by the Asheville Tourists, the Single A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

My son and I drove up to Asheville for some whitewater rafting and found out we could catch a minior league baseball game the day before. It was fun. It's a decent stadium with decent prices and views. There wasn't a bad seat in the house. Although it was very hot, we had a great time and if I find myself in Asheville again and the Tourists are playing, I'd truly go again.

If you're looking for a cheap and entertaining evening out in Asheville, a Tourist game is the place to be. And, this year (2012), the Tourists are actually on a winning streak! Low priced box-seats are as good as reserved seating. Food/beverage are reasonably priced. Good family excursion.

Going to a ball game at this small ballpark is nostalgic. I love being so close up to the action.. Great activity for kids.

No, it isn't the big leagues -- but there is something charming about the minors. You'll see the players up close, never have any trouble getting tickets at a reasonable price, and always be entertained. McCormick Field is a really nice venue, just the right size and not far from downtown. The Toursts are a pretty darn good team, too! An enjoyable few hours of baseball for the whole family.
