Owner description: McCormick Field opened its gates for the first time in 1924 when the Asheville Tourists played host to the Detroit Tigers. Over the years the stadium has encountered numerous renovations, most recently a seating bowl makeover in 2015, that has ensured the stadium remains up with the times while keeping its lustrous history and throwback feel. With a capacity of just over 4,000, the dynamic during a game is intimate and scenic. It is a hitter friendly Minor League ballpark thanks to a short porch in right field and a 42-foot high wall in right-center. McCormick Field is still inhabited by the Asheville Tourists, the Single A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

Going to a ball game at this small ballpark is nostalgic. I love being so close up to the action.. Great activity for kids.

“Get your baseball fix in Asheville!”
Reviewed June 14, 2012

No, it isn't the big leagues -- but there is something charming about the minors. You'll see the players up close, never have any trouble getting tickets at a reasonable price, and always be entertained. McCormick Field is a really nice venue, just the right size and not far from downtown. The Toursts are a pretty darn good team, too! An enjoyable few hours of baseball for the whole family.

“fun needed”

it's baseball at one of the best old stadiums you can find!! Parts of 'Bull Durham' were filmed here. Sit in the 'box' seats for waitress service.

“Well done Minor League Baseball”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

The Tourists have been in Asheville since Babe Ruth's day, but they try to keep their product bright and interesting, it is a fun and cheap night out (especially Thirsty Thursdays with $1 beers or Fridays when hot dogs are $1), they make the most of the product and try to keep the crowd involved, it is a show as well as a baseball game.
