Owner description: Experience Asheville's historic arts and crafts destination. Located adjacent to The Omni Grove Park Inn, this site once housed the weaving and woodworking operations of Biltmore Industries, an Arts and Crafts enterprise founded by Edith Vanderbilt and two inspired teachers, Eleanor Vance and Charlotte Yale. Today, the 11-acre property - listed on the National Register of Historic Places - is home to Grovewood Gallery, working artist studios, Golden Fleece restaurant, the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum, and Asheville's only antique car museum. PLEASE NOTE: Our 2 museums are closed during the winter months of January - March. Grovewood Gallery and Golden Fleece restaurant are open year-round. Grovewood Village has no admission fees, and free parking is available on-site.

I understand the cars on display came from a local Asheville resident's collection. Nothing really rare, but worth the time if you are into cars.

The building where they are housed used to be the loom room of Biltmore Industries where Biltmore Homespun wool was produced. I remember visiting the place in the mid 40's when these large hand looms were in operation.

Be sure to notice the quotes painted in the overhead beams. I guess they were placed there to motivate the individuals that operated the looms.

These antique cars and a wonderful vintage fire truck are in extraordinary condition. This display is a credit to those individuals who had the forethought to preserve, house, and share a collection of rare automobiles.

Our favorite art gallery in Asheville, which is saying something! A broad range of gorgeous arts and crafts in a pretty location behind the Grove Park Inn. The car museum is definitely secondary, but always worth a few minutes of looking at some neat old cars.

Visiting the Grovewood is always a fun experience. The artisans are carefully selected and offer a wide variety of choices - pottery, jewelry, wall hangings, wood carvings, furnishings. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The art galleries bring to mind that creativity and individualism is alive and well - presented through beautiful woodworking, furniture, jewelry, and metal working. The vintage car museum brought back great memories from the 1950s. Pay attention to the rafters for advise on living - real pearls of wisdom.
