“Top Spa Experience”

The spa alone makes this resort even though it has more to offer than just the spa. Spending an entire day at the spa and sitting in the 100+ degree waters as the cool air surrounds you is an experience to behold.

“Couples Massage for Valentine's Day”
Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

Entire spa experience was glorious. All staff ensured their mission was to make us feel like royalty.. We did! Gender specific areas plus co-ed pools offered best of both worlds. Mo and Karen were very flexible with our massage preferences and allowed us to switched which gender we each preferred regardless what they had planned for. Again - we were assured royal treatment and they validated pressure preference and paid attention to specific areas as requested. Nothing but rave reviews and high recommendations for the spa and Mo and Karen!!

“Experience of a Lifetime”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

This spa is a MUST DO for anyone visiting Asheville, North Carolina. We did not stay at the Inn but we did get the Couples Retreat massage which includes getting a very nice 50 minute dual massage in a private room, with an hour in a jacuzzi after, and full access to the whole spa the day of your visit. Note: the cost for two was $475 and there is 20% gratuity added the day of your visit -- 15% goes to the masseuses and 5% to the rest of the support staff. This was more than we would normally tip but we are sure the workers appreciate this amount.

On January 3rd, we had scheduled an 11:45am massage and we arrived at the spa around 10am to get acclimated. We used the coed hot tub waterfalls for a while before our reserved time and tried out the outside spa/pool which overlooks the town of Asheville. What a phenomenal preparation.

The private room was decorated with rose petals and there was a private hot tub in the room for us to use for an hour after our massage with champagne (or in our case, sparkling juice) and chocolate covered strawberries. We were offered 3 choices of scented, aromatherapy massage oils and the masseuses were very, very good and we know good ones. We have been getting massages at various spas and from various masseuses for over 20 years. The people working on us at OGPI were top notch.

In fact the just about all the people working there were great. Everyone was very professional and friendly. Also, there were all the toiletries and amenities you would need for showering, etc., and the staff was always around to supplement these if you needed something else.

There were hot organic tea and water stations throughout, but we also had smoothies in the Spa Cafe after our massages. We took some time to read books we brought with us by one of the many fires located throughout the spa, and again visited the various hot tubs and saunas in both the coed and male/female areas. We went back out into the outside spa/pool to watch the sunset. It was about 20 degrees the day we visited but inside the warm water, this was no problem.

We had a light dinner at the Spa Cafe around 6pm. The fare available is limited and a bit costly, but the quality was excellent and of course there is the convenience factor since you can eat in your robes! After dinner we stayed until about 8:30pm using all the amenities as many times as we could. FYI: The Spa Cafe closes at 8pm and the Spa closes at 9pm.

This was one of the best days of our lives, and while the full experience costed about $600 and this was the most we have ever spent on such a one-day adventure, it something we highly recommend for that special occasion and we will certainly go back again. Perhaps even once per year (as we live in Wilmington, NC which is about 6 hours away from Asheville). A one day spa ticket (not including any extra services like massages) is $90 per person available Mon.-Thur. and we can afford that once a year. We went on a Friday and the only way to visit then is to get some massage package. For the great massage experience we got, we feel it was well worth the 5 Star rating we give to OGPI Spa.

Final note: parking was free if you park outside and this was easy and convenient the day we were there. However there are parking garages available for $15/day and for the true luxury, use the valet parking option.

“Amazing to visit, stay elsewhere”
Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

I've stayed at the GPI 3 times, twice for work (for sales meetings) and once for play. The GPI is easy to sum up: beautiful grounds, from the fantastic golf course to the incredible spa, with hotel rooms that would get a barely passing grade at a Motel 6. The rooms are clean, but small. Small would be OK, except that they charge so much for the rooms (plus add $25 for a resort fee that GPI openly lists as covering your wifi and 2 in-room KEURIG coffee pods). Thing is, my wife and I love GPI, but they chisel every penny out of your hand at every corner on the stay that we feel like the grounds are a 5 and the hotel rooms are a 2, so with their extreme pricing, we have to make this a 3 star review.

“Gorgeous views”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

Loved sitting on the back porch and enjoyed the views of the colorful foliage in October. Would like to come back at Christmas. This is a fabulous gem. I love it when they have the fireplaces lit on a cool morning.
