While I am not among the younger well-heeled demographic this chain is seeking, I did enjoy my stay nonetheless. I wouldn't call it a bargain - the rate is offset by a couple of things that are. Hotel parking in the attached garage is $5 vs. the usual $20 or more I have seen elsewhere. Also, overall the food prices are cheap. I was able to eat my usual breakfast of Cheerios, milk, and a banana for $4 vs. a $15 breakfast buffet. A bottle of the hotel branded spring water was $1, about what it would cost at a convenience store. The staff was generally affable but exhibited one or two youthful indiscretions (a phone conversation with another staffer for about a minute while I was waiting). the lobby was very inviting in a youthful, buzzy sort of way emulating an upscale hostel. A lot of outdoor seating makes this very pleasant during temperate months. The rooms were nice. What matters to me is a pristine clean batch of bed linens and towels, free wifi, easily regulated temperatures, and quiet. All were delivered. The room design seemed a bit quirky but I wouldn't characterize that as a bad thing.
I don't mind paying a competitive price for a hotel that isn't out to gouge you at every turn. That is what makes this Aloft a winner in my book.
