“Bright, clean rooms”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

This recently opened hotel has a contemporary, relaxed vibe. The staff is friendly and professional, the room was clean and nicely but simply decorated, parking was cheap and convenient. But I didn't get much sleep because the air conditioner in our room was so LOUD that I woke up every time it turned off or on. It made a loud clicking noise each time it came on, then sounded like an engine before thudding off. I stay in hotels frequently, so I'm used to some amount of a/c noise, but this was disruptive.

From the brightly lit and colorful parking garage (~400 vehicle capacity), to the friendly check-in staff and the elevator with the 'squishy' tile floors, we exited on the 3rd floor into a corridor decorated in dark grays and colorful lights.

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and I liked the closet and drawer arrangement in the bathroom so that you could have your suitcase and clothes right where you needed them.

By far, the best part was the sliding glass door that opened to a patio with a privacy curtain. Slide back the curtain and walk out onto a community patio with plenty of seating, a pool, a fire pit and a dog walk area. The hotel is dog friendly.

The main lobby is on the 2nd floor with a convenience/snack area, a lounge and restaurant that has outside seating overlooking the street.

Across the street is a wonderful cafe/bakery for a nice breakfast, there is a wine store to the right of the hotel and on the block behind the hotel is a chocolate lounge! This hotel is within easy walking distance of everything that downtown Asheville has to offer.

The only suggestion I have for the Aloft is to dim the lights around the pool and fire pit at night to create a better ambiance in the evening.

I definitely plan to stay at the Aloft again.

Me and a girlfriend just spent Thursday night at Aloft in Asheville. Very nice, clean, hip hotel. Loved the outdoor cabana type seating area off our room, the outdoor bar/patio was great, the live music was perfect, and the hotel staff were very helpful. Very close to all the downtown things to do, but quiet and restful too. Would stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that opens up to the pool / cabana area!

Just spent two nights at the new Aloft in Asheville, NC. The hotel is so convenient for walking around Asheville and a short drive to the Biltmore. Conveniently located downtown there is no need to drive to restaurants, galleries or shops. For a small fee ($5/night) you can park at a parking garage that has direct access to the hotel lobby. The rooms are a bit on the small size but have everything that you will need for an enjoyable stay. There is a large bar/lounge/meeting area on the second floor with garage doors that open to an outside balcony. Enjoy a cocktail on the balcony while people watching. The is also a second floor outdoor pool with mountain views.

This hotel was off the charts awesome! The staff is very warm and not only to me but my puppy! when i arrived they had a doggie bed, treat and water bowl in my room for my baby! The best part about this place is they have an awesome balcony that is open to the public where you can enjoy an upscale bar and meet the locals with a great view! The location is awesome as well, walking distance to fantastic places to eat , spas and the drum circle in the middle of the city on the weekends!

My husband and I enjoyed a night at this property Sept 16th and as always with Aloft we were quite pleased! Staff was inviting and all had great energy. This property is new and is a perfect home away from home. In particular, we love the open second floor lobby/bar with floor to ceiling glass doors opening to a large balcony overlooking Biltmore Ave. A nice, clean, open workout room was important to us as well.
Parking deck makes parking a breeze. ($5.00 per night) We walked everywhere from this conveniently located hotel.
Will stay at this Aloft each time we visit Asheville!

Nice new hotel right downtown and 100 times nicer than that worn out old dump they call a Sheraton 4 Points just down the hill for half the price. But $225???? For an Aloft???? Those are downtown New York City prices. On top of that, they charge you another $5 to park your car there. As if someone might actually be walking to the hotel!!!
I am a Platinum member with the Sheraton chain and have been for a long time. In case you dont know the entire chain I will list the hotels in the order of luxury to basic. 1. St. Regis, 2. Luxury Collection, 3. LeMeridien or W (arguably a tie), 4. Westin, 5. Sheraton, 6. Sheraton 4 Points, 7. Element, and lastly 8. Aloft.
Aloft hotels are usually less than $80 all over the USA and world for that matter. This Aloft is no different and certainly not any nicer than the others. Dont have a clue why they are charging this kind of money. We had just arrived from Washington DC where one can stay at the Luxury Collection Downtown 500 yards from the White House for $159 on the weekend. That is a Luxury Collection, mind you! So as one can see, this Aloft is seriously over priced and not worth it no matter how bad you need sleep. Basic, Basic, Basic! Just like it is supposed to be. That is why they call it an Aloft. Basically "a loft" that you stay in to save some money. Just not here though!
