This hotel is ideally situated downtown Asheville. It's a nice hotel and has a good breakfast buffet (not included in price). The room was more expensive than I remembered it being a few years ago. It's pet-friendly but the extra fee is too much to warrant bringing your pet.

Wife and I stayed 2 nights, and the staff and facilities were top notch. Staff went out of their way to be of service. Easy, easy , access to all shopping, resteraunts, etc. Beds were very comfortable. Fitness center is very good.
My only complaint was the AC fan kicking on and off.
Highly recommend this hotel when you are in Asheville.

The staff at the Renaissance during my first stay was cold and aloof. When I drove up, there were two doormen who ignored me. Did not open the door or offer to help with luggage. The woman at the front desk was "professional" but not welcoming. When I inquired about an upgrade as a Silver Member, she was matter of fact in her response of NO, not apologetic. Not rude, though. I returned to Asheville one month later and decide to try the Marriott again because I liked the location of the hotel. Easy walk to restauraunts and shops. I was greeted by a doorman who was warm and welcoming. At the front desk, when I inquired about the room upgrade to the club level, I was again told no but with an explanation and an apology. I was given access to the club level where the view is wonderful. The attendant in the Club was attentive, engaging and made me feel welcome. And yes the hotel is clean and nicely appointed. Bathrooms are somewhat small but otherwise meets the Marriott standard. I will stay there again in November if rooms are available, because of how the staff treated me during my second stay.

We stayed here Halloween night and the location was great. Walking distance to basically everything and the room was really nice. Parking can be quite crowded though, we were lucky to find a spot. Would come back here anytime!

I was in Asheville for a two day conference and our meeting planner chose this hotel. Great desk with four power outlets on the back of the desk top along with a bunch of other AV conections to the TV. Nice bed, and good view of downtown Asheville. Location was great for dining and night life. Good hotel for seeing the sights and doing business.

Can't comment on rooms, since we were bumped out, but read on:
Made reservation 2 months in advance as part of a group attending a family event. Because of flight problems (thanks USAir) we arrived late, but called the hotel as soon as we knew we'd be delayed, to inform them we'd have a late check in. We arrived at midnight, with reservation in hand, only to be told there was no room for us because the hotel was overbooked!! They said "the only available room in Asheville" that night was at the Four Points Sheraton across the road. That sleazy place had 1 room to show us -- and it had a major puddle/flood under the window air conditioner that they were frantically trying to dry with industrial fans. Our horror was met by the equally confused staff at the Sheraton, and that they had actually told the Renaissance about the flood in the room, and Renaissance said they wanted the room for us anyway!! We immediately called Renaissance, told them it was unacceptable, and demanded something better. A very helpful person at the Sheraton suggested we check at the Grove Park Inn, the best place in town. In short, Renaissance said that place was full, while my husband was simultaneously using his cell phone to confirm there were plenty of rooms available. We ended up at Grove Park Inn (arrived 1:30 AM), stayed 2 nights for free thanks to Renaissance screw up.

We love to stay here when we visit Asheville. We got the best rate on Priceline name your price but the last time we couldn't bid for fear we might end up at the Crowne Plaza.
We did get a good rate by calling the hotel. It was cheaper than any of the rates listed online -like expedia.
Free wifi and the rooms are nice- this time had a bit of a mountain view from the 6th floor.
Only problem was our room fridge did not work and my cheesecake spoiled.
Otherwise great experience!
