“Excellent location in downtown Asheville!”

Cannot beat the location for the rate! In the heart of Asheville, free parking, clean facility (and rooms), an friendly staff. Asheville is one of my favorite cities and I visit often. Usually I'd stay around Biltmore Village or Tunnel Road and drive into city and park, but found this place and will definitely return!

My new wife and I recently spent one night in Asheville on our honeymoon. The combination of the location and price for this hotel can't be beat. Although too cool, the pool and garden area was beautiful. Strong wi-fi signal was nice. The hotel is located within minutes of some great restaurants and shopping. We recommend the Sky Bar for great rooftop views and drinks. The beer lover would be wise to walk next door to the Thirsty Monk. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star rating is the hotel could use some updating (which I think is scheduled) and the rooms are a bit small. Otherwise, totally recommend this place!

My girlfriend and I had to visit Asheville for a wedding, so we decided to spend a few extra days to enjoy what turned out to be an amazing city. While planning our getaway, we looked at a lot of hotels in the area, but ultimately decided that we wanted to be downtown. Downtown Inn and Suites had some pretty bad reviews, but the negative reviews seemed to be isolated and a little petty.

I am very glad that we decided to give this place a chance. The staff was very friendly, from booking to checking out. The rooms, lobby, breakfast area, all were very clean and well kept. The other hotels in the downtown area are not nearly as well located as Downtown Inn and they are about three times the price.

Don't get me wrong, the building is old, the décor is dated and you aren't sleeping on a tempurPedic bed. If you are going to Asheville and you want to stay in the hotel the entire time, this is not your place, but if that is the case, why are you going to an awesome place like Asheville.

The staff works hard to maintain a quality hotel and they do a great job, you can tell that there have been updates to the rooms (i.e. flat screens, mini fridge, microwave..). The outside elevator is pretty nice, with glass wrap around.

I can say that we will be going back to Asheville and Downtown Inn will likely be where we stay.

Best Pros: LOCATION, staff, cleanliness

Worst Cons: Sheets, pillows and towels

Room Tip: Bring your own pillows and towels

When I stay in Asheville, I want to be down town. This hotel is in the best location. You can walk to anything you want in the downtown area.

They have done several things to upgrade the hotel. They have painted the building and added a new elevator near the parking lot. The inside lobby is a bit dated and we always joke about the interior elevator and stair case being really dated, but they are both fine when taken with the overall hotel experience.

The staff can be a bit on the strict side, but that is because they work really hard to make sure that the hotel has decent guests and that people staying there are safe and happy.

The rooms themselves are very clean. I have some particular friends and they have stayed here on mulitple occasions. There is also a refrigerator and microwave which is a great perk for the price of the room. Flat panel TV's now too.

They have an extensive breakfist available and it is open late.

The biggest problem is parking. The lot is very tight and people tend to park a little selfish. However, they have overflow in a lot around the corner. It's really no different than parking in a garage at many city hotels.

I have used this hotel at least 6 times and will keep using it when in Asheville.

Room Tip: Mountain view has less road noise.

The staff was helpful and friendly. Our bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The lobby area looks dated but clean. We traveled with our dog and that worked out well. The location and price make this a good deal. The continental breakfast was very good.

Great location near everything the downtown has to offer. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are a little dated but kept clean. Complimentary breakfast is available till noon. We enjoyed our stay and definetly stay there again if we get back to town.

You can't beat the Downtown Inn for price and location. We enjoyed our stay but the hotel is in need of a deep cleaning and much updating. If you are looking for luxury or bothered by small details this isn't the place for you. Staff was very kind and free breakfast until 12:00 PM was great.
