This restaurant was recommended to us by a close friend that is a food manufacturer. We took her advice and much to my chagrin when we got there, we found out it was Tapas. I am not a Tapas guy however we sat at the bar and had a great dinner! Our waitress was Jessica and she coached us through one of my all-time favorite meals...Excellent! They took reservations. Sat us immediately. Service was perfect. The menu was Greek to me however Jessica interpreted everything back to Red Neck English so we knew what we were getting. The wines she suggested were Exceptional. The bill for two of us was $100 which included food, wines, tip and tax...and quite frankly was a pleasant surprise as we tried numerous dishes!

While visiting Asheville for the usual R&R weekend, we spied a review of Curate in the New York Times. As we were staying 3 nights at the Grove Park Inn we were easily able to get a reservation at Curate on Sunday night.

We went early, and sat at the bar, which turned out to be a great idea. It allowed us to watch the preparation of all of the dishes, which led to the highlight of the evening. We watched the chef make several servings of the cerdo ibérico a las finas hierbas, a grilled ibérico pork “skirt steak". We had enjoyed iberican pork in Spain so tried this dish - and it was wonderful. It happened that we chose it at the end of our meal, but we decided we did not need dessert afterwards, it was that good. Not sweet, but totally fulfilling.

The chef was trained by Jose Andres, Washington DC's famous Spanish chef/restauranteur and we felt that Curate's selections were easily the equal, or perhaps even superior to his Jaleo and other DC restaurants. This was tapas on the level with the best we've eaten in Madrid and Barcelona.

If you're in Asheville and you like tapas, you owe it to yourself to put Curate on your destination list, just like the Biltmore, the Grove Park Inn, and West Asheville. You'll experience new food memories that will stay with you and may even bring you back - it certainly did for us.

The food is excellent!

The space is beautifully decorated, and its open kitchen with serving bar lends to the excitement.

The patrons are friendly and the concept lends itself to spontaneous chats about food, wine, and Asheville. Dishes are small plates classic of tapas dining which allows you to try several things without breaking the bank!

Curate is a true gem in Asheville North Carolina. Thank You!

The waiter asked us if we look for him to choose a variety of Tapas dishes and we said yes. That proved to be an excellent decision by our group of 6. Everything was awesome and tasty. The decor, the staff, the attention to detail with the food, the presentation, the whole ambiance was an excellent experience. We had to wait for a table of 6 and the hostess sent us to a nearby bar and then called us on our cell phone when the table was ready. Great food, great time, and nice staff.

We had a great dinner. Shared a ceviche-like tapas with raw trout, a tuna salad tapas, a potato item that was basically like home fries with some delicious sauce poured over them, and the lamb skewers. All of the food was excellent. I had to special request bread which I thought was interesting and would have just been a nice addition to an upscale and somewhat pricey dining experience. Drinks were great, wine was great, server was lovely and timed everything well, didnt feel rushed at all, and the cafe con leche to top off the meal ended a really nice experience.

*Made a reservation well in advance, because they fill up!
