“Great Desserts!”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

After walking around Asheville for a while after dinner (other restaurant reviewed on their page), we decided that dessert was definitely in order. We saw Posana Café, and were charmed by the European look and feel. We stepped inside and decided to have our dessert at their pretty bar. In some places we’ve been in the past, bar staff haven’t been too happy to have patrons who don’t order cocktails. This was absolutely not the case at Posana Café. Our bartender was really terrific. She was uber-welcoming and put in our orders without batting an eye. What desserts those were!! On of the guys opted for the crème brulee, the other went for the peach “pie,” and both of us girls chose the Chocolate Pot de Crème.

Oh, my! Those chocolate desserts were amazing! I decided I really needed a bourbon with my chocolate. (After all, what goes better with chocolate? Can’t think of a thing.)

Would we go back? You'd better believe that we will - on every ensuing trip to Asheville!

“Popular and Delicious”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

My date and I could not get in here on a Saturday night, but Sunday night was perfect for walk-ins. We got to the restaurant a little later - 8:00 pm, and sat at the bar. We each had a salad and a glass of wine.

We were not that hungry and ordered two salads that hit the spot. The Kale salad was amazing and the hemp salad was good. Go for the kale! Amy, our bartender and server, really took care of us and told us the history of the restaurant and answered our questions of the infusion liquors the establishment creates.

James, one of the managers, was also very informative and the atmosphere was one of caring individuals wanting you to have a good meal, a nice time and come back again.

We sat inside but there is an amazing spot outside for people watching.

I wish we had a place like this in Tampa - and Tampa is working on it!

“Superb wine list”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

We enjoyed this restaurant thoroughly, sitting outside on the patio in early September. Most noteworthy was the superb wine list consisting of mostly small vineyards and some other unusual choices. We had the white chateauneuf and were blown away. Dinner was seared trout and duck breast, both very well prepared. I would caution on one item, although it may be terribly unfair to comment given that we did not order it: two diners near us ordered scallops and we could smell them 1-3 tables away which led us to believe they may not have been fresh. Service was attentive and the prices very reasonable. Eating outside was wonderful though I am glad we were in the corner and not on the street as Asheville offers great people watching at night though possibly not optimal when confined to a table with a front row view!

“Posana Cafe (gluten free) revisited 8-13-13”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Perhaps this is an update. Posana Café has recently and beautifully renovated its interior. It now has a more unique, quiet and elegant feel. Same superb GLUTEN FREE dining options (as in the entire menu) and attentive service. It remains our first choice (on the Square) in downtown Asheville, NC. For those gluten lovers, you'll never know your menu choice is gluten free.

“A nice surprise”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

We had reservations elsewhere but would not be served unto 9:30 so we walked in here. We opted for appetizers and salad. Excellent choice. Farmers salad was the best I have had. Fried green Taylor's also very good
