Just stayed in a "king view suite" on the 12th floor. Below are my pros and cons of the stay.

Pros:

1. Location. The hotel is easy accessed from the highway (which is also a potential con; see below). You can walk to all of the downtown shops, restaurants, and attractions in an easy 5-10 minutes. You won't need your car after check-in unless you need to venture outside of downtown.

2. Staff. Everyone is extremely friendly. I received a call one week prior to my check-in from the hotel's concierge. She was very knowledgeable, and sent a thorough email with numerous, helpful suggestions based upon our telephone conversation. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, and very responsive.

3. Lobby. The hotel has a great lobby with an open restaurant and full bar area. You can buy all the basics such as coffee, water, local brews, snacks, etc. I also saw a short, but good menu for breakfast. I am not sure whether a menu is offered for lunch and/or dinner.

4. Room. The "king view suite" is described as a "penthouse" on the hotel's website, but is actually located on the 12th floor (of 13). I found the photographs on the hotel's website to be extremely accurate. Our room did not have a tub (one was not promised), but did have a large walk-in shower. Aveda bathroom amenities were a nice touch. Overall, the room was very spacious, modern, and clean. Wi-Fi in the room was great. The bar area of the living room had a Keurig coffee maker, a mini-fridge, and a bar sink. The terrace had great views of the mountains, a large dining table with chairs, and a separate sitting area.

Cons:

1. Location. While the location of the hotel is great for walking to downtown activities, it is literally right next to the main highway which stays busy throughout the day and night. We were 12 floors up, and could hear a decent amount of noise from the highway. During the day, the noise was not a problem. But, at night, the noise was a little annoying when you tried to go to sleep. If you are a light sleeper, try requesting a room that faces downtown. Unfortunately, you will probably lose some of the great mountain views.

2. Elevators. If you use the elevators during the morning/mid-day hours, you may encounter delays. There did not appear to be a service elevator so everyone is vying for the hotel's two elevators. In the morning, we got on the elevator several times with staff who were riding one floor up or down with cleaning carts, room service carts, etc. Again, everyone was friendly, but it made for a long ride when you stop at every floor.

3. Little details. There was no bottled water in the room even for purchase. Of course, this was remedied by going to the lobby to buy water. I did request several bottles be placed in the room one day which the front desk staff quickly did. When the cleaning service restocked the coffee, they forgot to restock the napkins, cream, sugar, and stirrers. The hotel website said that a newspaper would be delivered to the room daily, but this never happened. There were, however, several different newspapers available in the lobby.

Overall, I was pleased with the hotel, especially the friendliness of the staff. I would likely return, but would consider requesting a room that is less subject to the highway noise (that is just a personal preference as a light sleeper).

Stayed two nights and dined in the hotel lobby lounge and had room service. Food was fantastic and included some local cuisine. Parked in the secure underground lot which was fantastic and kept my motorcycle dry during a rain storm. Took a day ride into the mountains and through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. View from my corner room on the 6th floor was beautiful. Staff was cordial and very helpful. Would choose this hotel again and again.

Room Tip: Corners rooms facing the mountains have a fantastic view

My wife and I enjoyed our 20th anniversary at the Indigo in Asheville. The staff was exceptional. They had even dropped off a gift to our suite before our arrival in celebration of our special day. Every need was met...and you can sure that anytime we stay in Asheville...these guys will be our family away from home.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms. Loved the location. Somewhat overpriced for what you get. Although the room was great, the service was mediocre, and the food was overpriced, as well. Did not have much of a fitness area, with only 2 treadmills, one elliptical, and one recumbent bike. Some free weights. Parking is somewhat of a problem if you have a large vehicle. Again, great location, and most everything is within walking distance downtown. I did mention that it was my daughter's birthday, and a nice surprise was waiting for her upon check-in! A very nice touch from the staff!

Nice, relatively new hotel, just on the edge of town. Easy walking distance to anything in downtown Asheville. We parked our car and didn't use it again until we left town. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The room, as well as other areas of the hotel were super clean. Rooms have a Keurig coffee maker and super nice bathrooms. The shower was a large as many bathrooms in some hotels. My only complaint was the complete lack of water pressure in the shower. I mentioned it as we were checking out and the front desk person sent someone immediately to check it out, so I don't think it will be an issue for future guests. We were fortunate to have a corner room so we had large windows with views out two sides of the hotel. Beds were extremely comfortable and even though noise seemed to be in some other reviews, we thought the hotel and our room was very quiet. Had two great nights of sleep! Would definitely return here!

Room Tip: Corner room for great views!

Our trip to Asheville began with Hotel Indigo. The front desk staff was very kind and helpful upon arrival. Katie, the Concierge, made our stay even more pleasant by adding personal touches to the room (at my request prior to our arrival). Also, we upgraded to the King suite and it was a lovely room with a panoramic view. The decor was beautiful and the hotel was clean. We were able to hear the highway noise, but I knew that hearing a little noise was possible due to the location. This was not a deal breaker for us, and the noise was not that bad. The hotel is very conveniently located to the downtown area restaurants. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and thank you to Katie for making our stay wonderful!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are great! The suites have floor to ceiling windows as well as bathtubs.

My husband and I got a room at this hotel for our weekend away. We got a suite thinking it would be great for some quiet relaxation time. First off, we were told we could check in at 4. It was more like 4:30 when we actually got our room. The second night, we paid $315, and at around midnight the people next door were having a big party! Either the walls are paper thin or they were yelling as loudly as possible. It sounded like they were in our room with us. There went our quiet and relaxing weekend. It is within walking distance to downtown. That is a good thing. The staff at check in was rude. The lady acted like she had better things to do. We wish we had the pleasure of getting the other attendant to check us in. She seemed very pleasant. I wouldn't waste your money. It's too expensive for all those problems.
