This hotel may be a chain but it has the style and service of an independent small hotel. The rooms are spacious, with great light, wood floors, good storage and great bathroom with beautifully tiled shower. It sits at the top of Haywood St 2 blocks from the Civic Center, so a great location if you're attending a concert or tournament. All of downtown Asheville's best restaurants and shopping are within easy walking distance. The staff is very helpful and the lobby restaurant offers excellent fresh and healthy options and the bar is a great gathering place. Parking is a bit limited, but the hotel offers options close by. Asheville is filled with lovely B&Bs and other hotels but not all are within walking distance of where you want to go in Asheville. This is a perfect!

I really enjoyed my stay. Convenient location, clean, quirky but stylish rooms, nice amenities, and contrary to other reviewer statements, really excellent service. I loved the big shower and didn't miss not having a tub. Noise was not a problem in the night but the next morning it definitely sounded like everyone in the hall was in my room! My only complaint was the gym. Only one bike, one elliptical, and two treadmills, plus some free weights and one very limited "universal" style machine. And the white walls already need a fresh coat of paint. But I'll stay again.

I usually love Intercontinental brands but this one did not live up to my expectations. The rooms were big and they were clean and the amenities were plentiful. The biggest problem we had was with the service. Nothing happened in particular but the staff was not pleasant and helpful at all. They never said hello or welcomed us and they just ignored our group as we walked past them. When we stay at nice hotels such as this one we expect that staff to at least acknowledge us when we walk through the lobby and say "hello" or "have a good evening" or anything at all. One morning we waited on our group to come to the lobby and the maintenance person was sitting on the stairs staring of into space for at least the 15 minutes we were there. When we ran into a couple of staff in the elevator they never said one word. It was just weird and not expected for Intercontinental hotels. Location of the hotel was good and it was near everything.

we really loved everything about this place... well there was one thing.. why no bathtub? there are some reviewers on here who booked penthouse suites, like we did and they scored rooms with the elusive bathtub. we really, really wanted one of those rooms. we really didn't get one. we tried to switch to a room had one half way through our stay but the room sucked so we went back to our real suite. the room is giant, with beautiful views, a living room, fireplace, giant shower, a couple of bathrooms.. etc, etc. how in the world, with all this space, did a bathtub get left out? i just don't get it. there's more than enough room for one, with views of the mountains, and it sure would have been nice on our romantic weekend to spend some time soaking in a tub with champagne and views of the mountains on cold, snowy days, but alas, there was no tub. only a little shower head standing lost in a gigantic, glass encased, cold, space. everything was so good at this place except that one huge miss. and i just don't get it.

Room Tip: i don't know. get the suite.

Firstly, location, location, location. This hotel has it in spades. A few minutes walk takes you to the shopping, food, and entertainment venues on Wall, Patton, and nearby streets. Secondly, the staff are very helpful, in particular, Ms. Lisa, who directed my wife and I to the happenings of the evening. The styling in the lobby and corridors is appealing, with curves strategically placed to soften the straight lines of the walls. The rooms are spotless, with small windows that can actually be opened if fresh air is wanted. The bathrooms are phenomenal and well-appointed (this is for a King Bed Leisure room). Wireless signal strength is very good. The hardwood/laminate flooring really goes a long way to reducing dust levels, and adds to the overall feeling of cleanliness. The bistro also has a nice selection of tasty breakfast entrees that gets you ready for the day, and a wait staff that is attentive and friendly.

Which brings us to the things a guest has to know when booking here. Those same hardwood floors do not damp the sound from, well, anywhere nearby. Late one night, we were wondering if there was someone actually pacing up and down the halls in high heels - I mean, repeatedly pacing, as if possibly on a call. But no one was in the corridor. We figured out that it was someone on an upper floor that was responsible for the little tattoo. Further, without the normal hallway carpeting, the small airspace beneath the door is pretty good at letting sounds through. (Maybe something could be done about that, i.e., a sound insulating strip under each door).. Parking to register can be tight, and you'll need your room key to access the main parking lot under the building. Finally, as to complaints about highway noise, check to see if the room has that little window mentioned above, and if it got somehow left open. These are very small issues that a reasonable guest can expect, given the location and features of each room.

Overall a very nice place to stay in Asheville, and I would not hesitate to recommend The Indigo and stay again.

This hotel is in a perfect location downtown. It is close to everything and very easy to walk all around. The rooms are very clean and nicely appointed. The staff were very friendly. However, I have never stayed in a hotel as loud as this one. You can hear everything. I could hear the people in the next room walking. Noise carries in this place so be prepared.
