Very nice. Lovely area that was very clean. Enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in Asheville. Take your camera, and wear your walking shoes.

“Beautiful place to visit.”

I've visited the Arboretum several times and have enjoyed each visit. The Bonsai exhibit is amazing with so many varieties of Bonsai.

“Nice, not spectacular”
Reviewed June 18, 2014

This is a rather large park for which there is a $12 parking fee. There are many pleasant walking trails and the plants are well marked. As a place for hiking it is really very nice, but if you are a person who loves a lot of color, this is not it. The Tropical gardens on Hawaii, The Buchart gardens of Vancouver and even the Chicago Botanic Gardens all have fantastic blooming plants much more than this.Still a pleasant place to stroll for a couple of hours.

“A peaceful, pleasant experience for the senses!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

This was such a pleasant surprise! If you love plants, nature, getting outside and breathing fresh air, this is the place for you! Entrance fees are $12 per car. Discounts can be found ahead of time through AAA or AARP. Maps were available with detail of the different gardens, trails and paths. We decided to walk some of the trails before visiting the formal gardens and what we found was so delightful. Very well maintained trails for all skill levels ranging from easy to moderate. Some of the trails allow for cyclists and others for pets on leashes. We chose the Bent Creek Road and Trail that goes along Bent Creek, an easy 1.3 miles in length but offering many wildflowers and ferns and a shady path alongside the creek. We were there at the end of the azalea season but there were a few native specimens still in bloom. We took a more difficult trail back to the gardens, the Wesley Branch Trail which was a little more challenging but only .4 miles in length, but a beautiful walk on a mountain pathway. The gardens were just an incredible delight for the senses with an interesting colorful "quilt" garden, more formal specimens including peonies in full bloom, mock orange, various roses, irises, and more. The favorite was the Bonsai garden. I had never seen so many different varieties to include many deciduous plants. Would love to venture back at a different time of year to catch the ones with buds in full bloom. We had a lovely lunch at the cafe to include homemade soups and interesting sandwiches and light fare. It was simply a lovely afternoon but I would have loved to stay longer. Tours of the greenhouse are appointment only, which I would have loved to have seen. This will be on my must see next time we're in Asheville!
