We stumbled up on this and decided to give it a try. You pay $8 for parking and then tour the grounds and exhibits for free. The bonsai exhibit was worth it alone. Awesome. We took a hike on one of the many trails. The only reason we left after 3 hours was because it was raining too hard. We were on one of the trails and were fine while it was just sprinkling because of the beautiful trees overhead. Don't miss this if you are in Asheville.

Went here for a hike, and took a lovely hike. Trail is fairly well marked and well maintained. The grounds are massive and lovely. We could have spent the whole day here!

My husband was so in awe of this place. He seemed uninterested when we pulled up. Then immediately started asking questions about everything. We loved it and wish we had more time to look at everything.

Lots of peaceful wooded trails for walking that were not too strenuous. Dog friendly. Gardens very lovely, especially the area which is laid out in a quilt design.

There wasn't a better way to spend a couple of hours than walking through the lovely gardens. Don't rush through it - take the time to stop and smell the flowers. $7 (with AAA discount) to get in - it's by the carload, not per person.
The café has good food.
