Something to be said for opening weekend at this new hotel located conveniently off I-40 exit 50 in Asheville, NC. I booked this hotel at a reasonable rate for Asheville for 13 families/children for a soccer tournament. This was the first weekend it was fully booked having opened just several weeks prior. No problems were noted by any of these families.
The hotel is directly due south of historic Biltmore Place, which was about 5-10 minutes away. Hotel was conveniently located between 2 professional soccer fields, allowing very easy access to Rt. 40. Restaurants were nearby at the next exits approx 1-2 miles.
Parking is ample. Staff is professional and very friendly and helpful.
Rooms obviously clean and fresh (new!) The only complaint was that the new pillows were over stuffed and hard....Apparently "not broken in yet" as explained to me.
Fluffy comforters, lots of towels, spacious granite counters and shower stall, hair dryer/iron/board, cosmetics included small soap, shampoo/cond. and bath gel. No mouthwash. High speed internet worked perfectly. No extra cost. BEST FRILLS: refridgerator, micro and coffee maker all convenienlty located on a seperate counter. Flat panel TV mounted on the wall added to the spaciousness of the room AND each room had a pull-out sofa which can accommodate 1 adults or 2 small kids.
Hallways were quiet even when kids ran up and down, even the staircases were carpeted which added to the quietness. The only disruption of quiet was the proximity of the hotel to the street. The rooms facing the street on levels 1, 2 and 3 could hear the continuous traffic. This could be drowned out by the in room heat/ac. But still, several light sleepers complained of this noise.
Continental breakfast was abundant and offered mult choices beyond cereal and english muffins. Coffed could be better that Maxwell House. Watery. However, conveniently located 1.5 miles is a Starbucks and a local coffee house. There is a conference room which we used for a minimal fee for a team dinner. Tables were set up w/ table clothers and food was brought in from a local restaurant. The indoor pool was small, considering there were many soccer kids, but on a regular weekend, the pool is appropriate w/ a jacuzzie and small exercise room, bathroom/shower on first floor. Elevator was a little slow but this was going to be adjusted.
There is no laundry room, but a laundry service or 1/2 mile down the road is a laudramat, convenient for stinky soccer things....
Very impressed with the coordination of efforts for a recently opened hotel. There were no flaws. I highly recommend this hotel for ease of location, price, and overall accommodations.
