“Wonderful Confectionery Shop - well worth the trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2010

These ladies make delectable desserts! If you're in the market for a one of kind cake - visit Creme! They even make small (for 4-6 people) delicate cakes. The Hazelnut chocolate cake is to die for ! I will not get my birthday cake from anyone else as long as these ladies turn out such scrumptious desserts. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to perfection!

“Absolutely delicious birthday cakes!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2010

We were looking for a great bakery to order birthday cake for my Mom's 80th birthday party. We went to Creme to see what they could offer. We were warmly welcomed by Jennifer, the first sign we were onto something wonderful!!! She took time to talk with us and offered some suggestions. Mom wanted a "Yellow cake with chocolate icing", and Jennifer said she could do her vanilla butter cake with her chocolate icing, instead of the buttercream. "It's more old-fashioned and more chocolatey", she said. It was right in line with what we wanted! With the addition of a fresh, not too sweet raspberry filling, we got a marvelous birthday cake! We wanted more than one cake, to offer some variety. Jennifer suggested the Lemon Ginger Polka Dot cake - Splendid cake, light and luscious crumb with lemon curd filling! DEVINE!!!! Lastly, we selected an old standby - Carrot Walnut Cake. This was one of the BEST carrot cakes I've ever had!!!! There was hardly any cake left at the end of the party and everyone asked us where we had gotten such tasty and beautiful cakes. - The cakes were decorated with fresh local flowers- an elegant touch, and were just beautiful. When we arrived at the event, the cakes were already there, waiting to be served! We HIGHLY recommend Creme for special occasion cakes. We'll definitely be back! Gotta try some of the breads that were displayed and get some more Lemon Ginger Polka Dot cake!!!!

“Rare disappointments, excellent overall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2010

SWEET: French style pastries found here, which is to say, most are less sweet and richer in butter than typical American style. Our favorites include the chocolate eclairs, the Pin Stripe Cake, blackberry tartlets, the crumb cake, and the rugelach. For Valentine's day they made dark chocolate covered caramels that made us swoon.

SAVORY: Their baguette (they call it the Pane Siciliano) is the best French bread in Asheville. So many artisan bakeries in the area have all or nearly all sourdough breads in the repertoire; I don't favor sourdough breads, and Crême's are not sourdough breads. Many love the soft pretzel served with a spicy mustard. I find the foccaccia WAY too salty, and a few other of their breads (even the challah) somewhat too salty.

LUNCH: There is a single offering of a Brie plate which is very nice, but it's on the pricey and sophisticated side, so don't try it for a kid!

ATMO: The seating area is spacious, with large windows. There is one very big table and 5 or 6 little ones, and a comfy armchair...maybe two, not sure.

BEVERAGE: High quality locally roasted organic coffee is dispensed by self-service from vacuum push containers. When it's hot it's truly luscious, but on two occasions in late afternoon, it was not hot enough. There is a limited selection of other drinks in the cooler: mineral water, a few others.

“Yum!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2009

My family stopped in to Creme after a camping trip and absolutely loved what we bought. Cookies, pastries, breads (esp the semolina!) were wonderful. We will make it a regular stop on our visits. The owner was lovely.

“A Second loaf of terrible bread”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2009

I purchased a Foccaccia. It was just terrible. It was crumbly and had none of the wonderful sponginess that a Foccaccia should have.

I really can't understand how so many reviewers think their baked goods are so wonderful, although I have not had any of their pastries. However, given the serious inferiority of their bread, I would never try their pastry.
