The Admiral is a really cool spot! It's perhaps an old dive bar, and it's decorated in a very hip and casual style, but the menu and food are very gourmet. What we ate featured locally grown produce in innovative ways along with delicious meats, etc. The dessert was amazing, with locally grown fruit. We loved the atmosphere and the food. Very relaxed.

Funny dive bar with amazing food and martini's....need I say more? Worth a drive/trip if you are not a local. Don't go if you are looking for family fun with the kids.

I've eaten at Fig, The Market Place, Carmel's, Posana, Table and Nova (sadly closed), and the Admiral is easily the best. Seriously well done food. Menu continually changes. Portions aren't ridiculously small and flavors are well balanced. Located just outside downtown in what looks like an old dive bar. The place looks scary outside, but the vibe is very comfortable inside. it's small, so get reservations, or you can sit at the bar.

Waited at least 7 minutes for someone to meet us at the "please wait to be seated" sign. Service was somewhat slow and unfriendly. Food was slow to come out. Pork tenderloin with gnocchi and morels - underseasoned and greasy but goo d flavor profile. Duck with chocolate and cherries - greasy and heavy but otherwise delicious. Eden's Farm pork chop = big and tasty and rare (but it in an "I'm ok with rare pork kinda way). Foie gras with peanut butter pound cake - excellent peanut butter pound cake, caramalized banana, nutella sauce... foie was raw and jello-like. We sent it back and were still charged 20%. When we asked about the charge, we were asked if we hadn't eaten a bit of it before sending it back. Do not recommend.

Great restaurant. Creative. Menu constantly changing. Front of house knowlegeable of menu and beverages. Perhaps best place in Asheville. Looks like a biker bar from outside but don't let that fool you. Best to get reservation. No advertising but always filled by locals. What does that tell you.
