The hotel itself had gone to great lengths to make the hotel feel like a Bavarian hunting lodge, and the atmosphere was brilliant. The staff in reception we genuinely lovely and the bar staff could have learned a great deal from them about customer service. My only real issue was locating the hotel 50 yards from a railway crossing, every train, every train! Insisted on sounding their horn several times before they crossed the road, regardless of the time of night. By the end of the first night it seemed personal, I felt that the train drivers were conspiring against my sanity. My cunning plan for the following night was to enjoy several cocktails in the hotel bar in the hope of passing out and not hearing the trains. However, the bar staff were in league with the train drivers and the service was so poor I went to bed sober. Fortunately British Airways took pity and flew me home a day earlier than planned

This was one of the better and nicer hotels for the value that I've stayed in quite a while! The check in is very pleasant with the sofa chairs and makes it very welcoming and personable. The staff is extremely delightful and pleasant as well. They have complimentary coffee in the morning and delicious warm apple cider the rest of the day...all you can drink! The restaurant is very good as well (at least for breakfast it is...we didn't eat there for lunch or dinner).

As soon as you walk into the lobby, this place says "relax and stay awhile!' The lobby boasts a huge fireplace open on all 4 sides surrounded by comfy couches and lounging chairs. The hunting lodge décor is warm (as long as you aren't upset by the many deer heads on the walls). The staff was pleasant and check-in was fast and easy. Our room was beautiful! The bath takes up about 1/3 of the of the room size and its worth it. The bath décor and design was awesome. There was a huge soaking tub, as well as a walk-in shower and private WC. The beds were quite comfy and the rooms are very quiet. Even if you don't eat in the restaurant/lounge, enjoy a nightcap there as it is lovely especially at night. The location is also good: right across from the entrance to the Biltmore and there are many shops within a block or two of the hotel. Also, we took cabs both nights into downtown and the cost was a mere $8 (one way) for 4 of us. I will stay here again.

My wife, two grown daughters and I spent three days and two nights at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, 2013. The accomodations were excellent, and the staff from bell hops to bar tenders were excellent. Food in the Red Stagg Restaurant, inside the hotel, was delicious, and the full service bar provided any beverages you could imagine. The entire staff of the hotel was helpful and friendly.

The hotel is located directly across the street from the entrance to the Biltmore House, and only about 1/4 mile off I-40 at the Biltmore exit. We used valet parking because street parking is at a minimum in the adjacent Biltmore Village area. The Village provides many shops, restaurants, and gallaries, surrounding and adjacent to the hotel. We asked for a room in the main part of the hotel where the bar and restaurant are located. There is an equally nice hotel building across a side street which houses additional hotel rooms.

There is also a local trolley tour, the "White Trolley", that is reasonably priced, heated, and has a tour guide/driver, very knowledgeable of the Asheville historical area. Tipping the driver is highly recommended. The tour leaves from the Biltmore Gatehouse Gift Shop, located just outside the gates to the Biltmore House, and right across the street from the Grand Bohemian Restaurant. The trolley tour lasts about 1-1/2 hours and goes throughout the city and even to the Grove Park Inn. Riders can get off the trolley at certain locations, such as at the Grove Park Inn, visit for a while and catch the next trolley at a set time to resume the tour at no extra charge.

The Grand Bohemian is an excellent location and accomodation to enjoy the city of Asheville and the Biltmore House. It is not inexpensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the "main building", where check-in, bar, and restaruant are located.

It is a bit expensive, but the rooms are beautiful. The bathrooms in particular were very nice. The service is also excellent. Among other things, they will lend you umbrellas if you forget your own. And it is located right across the street from the Biltmore.
