Description: Marco's Pizzeria continues the family business started in 1933 of cooking unparalleled New York-style pizza in two locations in Asheville, North Carolina. Marco's Great Uncle Patsy started the family's first pizzeria when he expanded the offerings of his ice cream parlor to include the uniquely New York-Italian dish. Patsy's Pizzeria in Harlem originally used a coal-fired oven to create a crust that is thin and crisp on the outside. Today, the fourth generation of pizza-makers in Marco's family continues to use Patsy's recipe and methods to create a dish that is unlike anything else available outside New York.

Our favorite Marco's establishment is the one in North Asheville. The service is always stellar and we do love their pizzas! Great spot for families and groups of friend.

Hands down best NY style pizza in Asheville and the accent to go with. You gotta try the meatball pizza with homemade marinara, ricotta, fresh basil, mozzarella and meatballs. Delish!

They have great local beers on draft!

LOVE IT! When we Yankees wanted some real pie, Marco's was our go to place. Big, hot and delicious you had to come prepared with your appetite!

Trying to find pizza in Asheville on New Years day was not an easy task as my search only yielded a few and some had less than stellar reviews. Marco's is North of town on Merimon Avenue. The atmosphere is nice with pictures on the wall and comfortable booths for the patrons. We ordered an 18 inch xtra large pizza with three toppings for just over $20. It should be noted that they have about five micro brews on draft and DO NOT carry Coke products. If you are like me and particular about your cola products this doesn't fly. The pizza ovens are visible from the dining room and they churn the pies out quickly. What I noticed upon the Pizza's arrival is that it seemed to lack substance. The crust was so thin that it felt more like eating pizza on a cracker than a proper pizza crust. This is probably the reason that the cheese sauce and topping seemed to be put on in a spotty method so as not to weigh down and sink through the lack of proper support from the crust. The end result was I was asking the age old question? Where is the beef? A twenty dollar pizza that I could have eatin myself is lacking in some regard, the whole thing could be weighed in ounces were a true NY pie is weighed in pounds. The flavor was decent with the sauce sweet fresh and not pastey and the ingredients were fresh. The sausage was sliced but slightly on the dry side. Overall the product was viable and for those not from NY you might even stretch the revue to good; you, but not me. If I am dropping $20 plus on a pizza I prefer to leave full.
