“Mmmm tasty...”
Reviewed June 7, 2009

Awesome experience - the staff, ice cream (custard), outside deck (with waterfall and tree right through the middle!) made our trip relaxing and tasty. The frozen custard rocks...they make all their own frozen custard and have a different flavor every day. Cappuccino Crunch and Funky Monkey were awesome!

“Great Mom and Pop establishment”
Reviewed June 7, 2009

Open for about four or five years now, CinTom's has been able to hold strong in the community while competitors have moved in. All the like businesses in the area though are ice cream shops. CinTom's Frozen Custard is so much more. All of the employees of the store are quite beautiful and always friendly. Not only do they do custard, but they have a small but filling selection of food (hamburgers, hotdogs, ctc.), soda and even diabetic gelato (Italian style ice cream, kinda like shaved ice)! The atmosphere is quaint, wals painted like a castle or fairy tale land. The chairs inside are cast iron and the chair backs have spoons welded on them, very cure and appropriate! They have a small tv room and game area thats great when you bring your family, complete with dominoes, Foosball, and air hockey, this is a great business that I would recommend to anyone in the area!

“Yummy!”
Reviewed January 10, 2009

I went here and got the Chocolate. It was really cool. They have a machine that makes their stuff fresh and u can watch it churning out of the machine. They have inside seating and also a wonderful atmosphere outside. We sat inside and then walked outside to see. Very relaxing and YUMMY! They make everything fresh and u can add on candies and other snacky stuff.

“CinTom's Custard, Asheville: Way beyond ice cream!”
Reviewed July 2, 2008

This was our best culinary discovery on our most recent trip to Asheville, bar none. CinTom's is a small business housed in a, well, small house, along Sweeten Creek Rd (25A) a few miles south of 40. It is well-worth the time to find it.

Frozen custard (as was explained to us on our first of 2 visits) is different from gelato, but much richer than ice cream, utilizing more egg yolks. It is made at CinTom's in a large variety of flavors, all made with fresh ingredients. If they have strawberry, it is because strawberries are in season. If you want more strawberries on top of the ice cream, they have crushed berries to oblige. If you want excellent chocolate with raspberries (which I would recommend) they have that, as well.

In addition to all their custards and fruits being made on-site, they also make cookies, meringues, and fruit cobblers, which can be topped with the custard and sauces. I enjoyed (okay, swooned-over) a triple-berry cobbler, served hot with vanilla custard on top, for the modest price of about $2.50. I don't know about your area, but in mine $2.50 barely buys you a cookie these days, let alone a culinary treat like this one. I had to be strong, and resist buying a second one.

The setting includes outdoor seating at the side of the house, unfortunately overtaken by the smokers. We left them to it. Inside, there are several areas for kids, along with game tables, including checkers. The decoration is quite whimsical, and eccentric, and adds to the enjoyment.

In summer, by about 7:30, parking became valuable, as a steady stream of families pulled up to enjoy the offerings. I would recommend you do the same, the next chance you get.
